“He sustained bullet injury in the neck and was rushed to the civil hospital from where he was taken to N M Virani Wockhardt hospital,” said B D Rabari, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime).
Prajapati (55) is an Ayurvedic doctor and runs a clinic here which he visits every Friday.
He parted way with Asaram after an over-decade-long association when the controversial spiritual leader was accused of raping a minor girl. He also gave statements against Asaram to the police.
Police said they were yet to speak to Prajapati. “After taking his statement we may reach any conclusion as to whether the attack has any links with Asaram or his aides,” Rabari said.
Prajapati has police security, but the constable accompanying him had gone for lunch when the attack took place.
