Hindustan Power’s thermal project in Annuppur was accorded certificate of Hydro test of the unit 2 Boiler- phase 1 by the concerned authority. The Hydro testing is one of the most critical landmarks towards commissioning of a thermal power plant as it is the test of pressurizing the boiler to 1.5 times its design pressure so that the pressure parts(portion of Boiler in which the water & steam flows in the Boiler) is erected, welded & Radiographically tested. This test was successfully done in the presence of the Boiler inspector as per Indian Boiler Regulation guidelines.
The first phase of power plant in Madhya Pradesh for 1,200 MW is scheduled for commissioning during the current year. The company has set new benchmarks in the power sector by achieving critical milestones in terms of land acquisition, coal and water linkage, securing various statutory and other clearances and award of various contracts in a quick time.
The Company had completed the Hydro Test for BOILER #1 and the erection of ESP (Electro Static Precipitator), which removes suspended particulate matter from the flue gas, during the last year.
Speaking about the project, Ratul Puri, Chairman, Hindustan Powerprojects said, “The phenomenal progress on this state-of-art power project in a record time, truly reflects the technology used and aspirations of the locals to achieve economic development. A project of this magnitude is not possible without the active support of the local community, administration, Government authorities and the media.”
He added, that for the boiler of Unit 2, we had erected approx 4447 MT of structure and another 5025 MT of pressure parts, approximately 10 km of fin welding has been done for aligning the pressure parts and about 28000 no of joints between the tubes have been welded this speaks volumes about the work achieved here. Whether it was chimney or the boilers, the people behind the successful erection are the locals who have worked under the guidance of a team of dedicated professionals. Over next few year, Anuppur will experience next phase of development associated with commissioning of a thermal plant.
