Toxic #WorkCulture at #EY kills young #CA in #Pune

Anna Sebastian Perayil, a chartered accountant from Kerala, passed away just four months into her employment at multinational firm Ernst & Young, EY. The death of the 26-year-old has raised concerns about workplace practices at the company. Anna's mother, Anita Augustine blames 'work stress' at EY for the tragic death.
This tragedy highlights the urgent need to address toxic work cultures and prioritize employee well-being.
Anita Augustine has written an email addressed to EY's India chief Rajiv Memani expressing her distress over the circumstances that led to her daughter's death.
Perayil, who passed her CA exams in 2023, began working at EY Pune in March 2024. It was her first job, and she worked hard to meet expectations, but it took a severe toll on her health. Her mother mentioned that Perayil experienced anxiety, sleeplessness, and stress soon after starting the job, yet she continued working hard, believing it was the key to success.
Ernst & Young India expressed sadness over the death of 26-year-old employee Anna Sebastian Perayil, reportedly due to "excessive workload." EY pledged to improve workplace conditions across its offices.
