 As per govt sources over 28000 invitations have been sent and 91 plus Durga Puja committees likely to attend and display their Durga idols in the Durga Puja carnival organised by Govt.of West Bengal.

Kolkata Police has imposed Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) for the 2024 Durga Puja Carnival to prevent any potential protests from "Droher Carnival " of junior doctors and to ensure safe and peaceful passage of puja carnival

In solidarity with the hunger strike in West Bengal Indian Medical Association (IMA) joins hunger strike in Delhi to express solidarity with junior doctors in West Bengal, who have been demanding justice for the victim of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
