Punjab National Bank Received National Golden Peacock Award in Bangalore

Punjab National Bank has been awarded with the “Golden Peacock National Training Award” 2011. This is for the second time in succession that the Bank has been conferred upon this honour. On behalf of the Bank, the Award was received by Smt. Sushma Bali, General Manager (HRDD and Training) Punjab National Bank and Shri V. K. Dhawan, Asstt. General Manager, Punjab National Bank, from the august hands of Hon’ble Corporate Affairs Minister, Dr. M. Veerappa Moily on January 20, 2012 in 2nd World Congress on Total Quality organised by Institute of Directors at Bangalore.
The assessment of the performance for the award was made on the basis training initiatives taken by the Bank during the year and innovative methods being applied for updating the skills and knowledge level of the employees.
Among the jury who decided the winners were Dr Ola Ullsten, Former Prime Minster of Sweden, Global Chairman, Lt. Gen Surinder Nath, PVSM, AVSM (retd.) former Vice Chief of Indian Army &
former Chairman, Union Public Service Commission, Justice P N Bhagwati, former Chief Justice Supreme Court of India and Dr. A N Saksena former Financial Advisor Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas
With a 117 year long tradition in sound & prudent banking and over 68 million satisfied customers, PNB has also taken care of the aspirations of its employees by evolving a training set up of its own which includes one Central Staff College at apex level, seven Zonal Training Centres, three Regional Staff Colleges, I.T. Centre at Faridabad and an exclusive Information Technology Institute at Lucknow.
Bank has also taken up programme with NUS Business School, Singapore for nurturing leadership and marketing skills and also  been emphasizing upon the foreign training to the Senior Management personnel so that Bank may come up to the expectations of the stakeholders in globalised era. At PNB, technology is also being leveraged to impart training to its employees.
The efforts being made by the Bank in training arena have resulted in improving employee productivity.
