In what is yet another milestone for Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Accenture, world’s leading consulting and technology services company has recently setup an Innovation Centre for ERP at Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and Engineering (MPSTME), NMIMS (Deemed-to-be-university). Accenture’s set up which will benefit scores of students at MPSTME is also a first for any institute in the western region of the country.
Mr. Shantiprakash Motwani, Vice President, Accenture who was present for the official inauguration, welcomed the initiative taken by the management of NMIMS. “This initiative will further strengthen our partnership with NMIMS University and will give that extra edge to the students of Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and Engineering.”
The Centre already has trained a batch of 32 top ranking students of MPSTME from Computer and IT engineering departments in Oracle ERP Business Suite. The 5-day training was conducted over a period of 50 hours and included several advanced topics giving an exposure to the Business Suite. The activity will soon be conducted at the Shirpur Campus of NMIMS (Deemed-to-be University) shortly.
Dr. Rajan Saxena, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS University highlighted the importance of growing partnerships forged by NMIMS (Deemed-to-be University) with several industry leaders. “Industry and Academia have long shared a mutually beneficial relationship, and here at NMIMS, we respect and honor that tradition. This tie-up with Accenture is just another step in our commitment to build durable and long-lasting relationships with the corporate world” said Dr. Saxena.
Dr. Sharad Mhaiskar, Dean, MPSTME, while welcoming this initiative stressed on the agility with which the initiative was put in place. “It has been our endeavor to focus on skill sets and knowledge that prepare our students for the industry and this association is another step towards this endeavor. Today, it’s the need of the hour to equip students with things that are current, relevant, industry-oriented and applicable immediately after they hop on to the corporate bandwagon” said Mhaiskar.
In the coming months the Innovation Centre would carry several activities for students as well as faculty. These and other initiatives as a result of the strong partnership will give the students a distinct edge when they are placed in the industry.
