Apollo Hospitals promotes Cancer awareness in Bangalor

Apollo Hospitals promotes Cancer awareness in Bangalor
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide accounting for 7.6 million deaths in 2008. This number is projected to reach 13.1 million by 2030. Deaths due to cancer can be significantly reduced by early detection and treatment. Taking this message forward, this World Cancer Day, Apollo Hospitals conducted a unique awareness camp focusing on the theme ‘Busting Cancer Myths’ in Bangalore.

The awareness camp focussed on imparting information related to cancer, symptoms and early diagnosis. The camp also featured cancer survivors who shared their experiences with patients. The objective of this activity was to provide strength to and motivate those diagnosed with cancer.

Led by Dr. P P Bapsy, Senior Consultant & Head – Oncology, consultants from Apollo Hospitals educated the audience about Myths and Facts about Cancer and Warning Symptoms and Early Diagnosis in addition to sharing information on Leading a Positive Lifestyle for better health.

Apollo Hospitals will run a cancer detection camp at its Bannerghatta road facility throughout the month of February to facilitate early diagnosis.

To commemorate World Cancer Day and to create awareness amongst citizens, the hospital launched a sky balloon. The camp was wrapped up with a live concert featuring Vidwan Sri. Gopal (Veena) and Vidwan Sri. Karthik (Mridangam).
