Hindustan Coca-Cola beverages to open first "career development centre" in Karnataka

Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd (HCCBPL)., announced their partnership with actor Salman Khan’s- Being Human foundation, to scale up their Career Development Centre (CDC), an initiative to empower rural, educated and underserved youth. As part of this endeavour, a new Career Development Centre will be set up for the first time at Bidadi in the Ramanagara district, this year.


The initiative, in association with NIIT Foundation and NGO Gram Niyojan Kendra, was started in January, 2011 with a pilot centre near the HCCBPL bottling plant at Dasna. With this partnership, the Career Development Centre is now set to extend its reach to the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Maharashtra.

 Mr. T. Krishnakumar, Chief Executive Officer, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd., Mr. P. Rajendran Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder of NIIT Ltd., Mr. K.K. Mukherjee of Gram Niyojan Kendra and superstar Salman Khan came together to unveil the new Career Development Centre logo and facilitate students who have passed out of the centre and got their first jobs. Since its inception, the initiative has benefitted over 209 youth, helping them get their first jobs by providing them training aimed to enhance their employability at a low cost.

 Speaking about the CDC initiative’s future plans, Mr. T. Krishnakumar, Chief Executive Officer, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd. said, “The success of the pilot Career Development Centre at Dasna has spurred us on to spread the arms of the initiative to other areas. Bidadi, with its budding youth population, is the ideal location for the next CDC. Our plan is to reach out to maximum youth in the area to create awareness of the benefits available from this centre and bring them on board. The CDC initiative aims to ultimately impact the ecosystem of the area by injecting employment for the youth of the area through its training. I look forward to this new journey with our partner Being Human and Salman Khan, who we believe is the ideal icon to mentor the youth.”


Speaking about the association, popular actor Salman Khan said,“The training provided by CDC is very practical and prepares the youth for entry level jobs. Being Human - The Salman Khan Foundation is proud to partner with this endeavor.”.”

 Mr. P. Rajendran Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder of NIIT Ltd. added, “I would like to welcome on board our new partner - Being Human. I believe that Salman’s appeal across demographics will help us further improve the reach and impact of the Career Development Centre. I urge more youth to come forward and take advantage of the benefits being offered at the CDC.”

Launched in January 2011, the Career Development Centre is an HCCB initiative in partnership with the NIIT Foundation. The objective of the CDC is to tap the potential of rural youth which are educated yet unemployed and underserved. This is done by providing training courses designed to meet the entry level job requirements of the organised sector. The centre is equipped with modern facilities such as Desktops with Internet, Audio-Visual learning aids and Libraries. Manned by NIIT certified trainers, the centre offers an enabling environment for learning.
