Government has allocated funds for Gachibowli Archery Academy
The Compound Round of the 35th Junior National Archery Championship was formally inaugurated by Shri Lav Agarwal, IAS, Secretary Youth Services & Sports Department, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, at the SAAP Sports Complex, Gachibowli on Saturday. Also present on the occasion was Mr. Anil Kamineni, President, A.P. Archery Association & Secretary General, Archery Association of India.

 The Andhra Pradesh Archery Association is hosting the 35th Junior National Archery Championship from the 12th to the 21st of February 2013 at Hyderabad, the Indian Round of the Championship concluded on February 14th and the Recurve Round will begin on February 19th, 2013.

 Speaking on the occasion Shri Lav Agarwal said, the archery talent is innate amongst us Indians and is a great hounour and pride to have Andhra Pradesh archers making a mark at the national level. As the secretary for youth services I will try and do my best in encouraging archery. He promised to ensure all the facilities for the Badrachalam Tribal Welfare Sports High School – Kinnarasani School. He revealed that the Government has allocated funds in the budget for the Gachibowli Archery academy. He felt the need to encourage archery in rural areas and desired creating awareness about the sport amongst children below fifteen years of age. Current generation archers should take inspiration from internationally acclaimed archer Limba Ram and win more laurels for the country, he said. He expressed happiness at the girls making a mark along with boys in this sport.



Mr. Anil Kamineni said, I am extremely happy at Government allocating funds for the construction of Archery academy and desired complete support of the Government for the growth of Archery. We are in the process of creating a strategy to develop this sport in the state, he revealed on the occassion. This is the first time the Andhra Pradesh Archery Association is hosting a Junior National Archery Championship. More than 400, Archers from over 25 States and Sports Units are expected to participate in the events.  The Junior National Championship is attracting the top Archers of India. Some of the Archers include National Champions and International medal winners who have brought laurels to the country on the world stage, such as Ritul Chaterjee, Jyothi Surekha and C.H. Jignas from Andhra Pradesh and several others from around the country.



Andhra Pradesh is among the leading states in India, in Archery. Hosting major Archery events such as these, would give a further boost by inspiring and attracting young talent.
