Silverglades Delhi to fight DLF Gurgoan for the $200,000 Louis Philippe Cup

Silverglades Delhi to fight DLF Gurgoan for the $200,000 Louis Philippe Cup
Navratna Ahmedabad started the day as favorites to reach their second consecutive finals with Mithun Perera boasting of a four stroke lead over Shamim Khan and Vinod Kumar leading Himmat Rai by two strokes going into the final hole. However the day ended unfavorably for defending champions Naratna Ahmedabad who lost their finalist position to Team Silverglades Delhi post an unlucky last hole for Vinod Kumar who was penalised two strokes post hitting his first two tees into the water body, much to the delight of Silverglade Delhi's star performer from yesterday - Himmat Rai, who returned a par card after hitting three birdies and as many bogeys.

Silverglades Delhi will now play DLF Gurgaon, winners of the tie against Jaypee Greens Greater Noida thanks to comfortable victories by Jyoti Randhawa and his brother-in-law Digvijay Singh. Randhawa, the 2002 Asian Tour Order of Merit winner, led by three strokes by the 10th hole and only had to ensure that he did not drop any strokes as his opponent R Murthy (3-over-75) wilted under pressure and dropped three strokes on the back nine, eventually losing by six strokes. Digvijay, in contrast, started poorly with a birdie, bogey, bogey on the first three holes but regained his composure to hit birdies on the sixth, 13th and 15th  holes to end the round at 2-under-70 and ensuring himself a comfortable seven stroke win over Sanjay Kumar, who bogeyed five holes and did not have a single birdie to show for his effort.

Jaypee Greens Greater Noida's Gaganjeet Bhullar, continued his great run, earning his team a consolation point when he outplayed Abhinav Lohan by 10 strokes. Bhullar who began with an eagle on the second hole and then hit five more birdies - three on the back nine, ended his day with a score of 5-under-67. Lohan, unfortunately did not pose much of a threat to Bhullar, ending his round at 5-over-77 with consecutive bogeys on the final two holes.

In the play-offs, TAKE Chennai's Mukesh Kumar fought brilliantly to beat veteran Shubhkamna Noida's Jeev Milkha Singh; but his 4-under-68 went in vain with TAKE Chennai losing the other two matches of the encounter. Starting the proceedings for TAKE Chennai, young Khalin Joshi fought hard against Shubhkamna Noida's Abhijit Singh Chadha, but eventually lost the match as he finished with a 2-under-70 to Abhijit's 5-under-67. Sri Lankan Anura Rohana, playing against Shubhkamna Noida's Ashok Kumar  carded a par-72, while Ashok Kumar ended 1-under par to give Shubhkamna Noida an unassailable 2-0 lead over TAKE Chennai. TAKE Chennai will now compete against AVT Kolkata for a 7th place finish where Anura Rohana is drawn to play Rahil Gangjee, while his teammate Mukesh Kumar plays against Shankar Das. Debutante Khalin Joshi is slotted to play against the 2011 PGTI Player of the Year Chiragh Kumar.

As the finalists of last year continue to fall, Puravankara Bangalore will battle Shubhkamna Noida for fifth position where Manav Jaini is slated to open the proceedings for Puravankara Bangalore with his match against Jeev Milkha Singh and Anirban Lahiri will take on Ashok Kumar while Omprakash Chouhan will play against Abhijit Singh Chadha from Shubhkamna Noida.

While tomorrow's play-offs have several delightful encounters lined up for the fans, all eyes will be on the summit clash where it will be a battle of experience versus fresh talent as DLF Gurgaon's Jyoti Randhawa takes on a young and equally impressive Rashid Khan from Silverglades Delhi.
