Talking about the show, Ravish Kumar, Executive Vice President, Viacom18 & Business Head – Regional Channels, ETV Kannada said, “After Bigg Boss took Karnataka by storm, we needed another format that would keep our viewers hooked. 14 people camping in one Bigg Boss house generated so much valuable content, so when 14 contestants camp for 14 weeks across India we hope that the content will be just as compelling and intriguing.”
Parameshwar Gundhkal, Programming Head, ETV Kannada further added saying, “Indian is a show that is an exhilarating combination of travel and adventure that would appeal to all age groups. The show will be shot across the length and breadth of India, touching 7 states that include J&K, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. With Akul Balaji hosting the show, we have the perfect ensemble in place and the show will air at the 8pm primetime slot.”
The host of the show Akul Balaji said, “I have always been fond of travelling and this reality show really excited the adventurous streak in me. Getting a chance to explore the variety a country like ours offers will be a joy and I look forward to the start of the shoot.”
The participants will be from various parts of Karnataka, who are also from different walks of life. The team reaches a new state every alternate Monday, exploring the region with various native activities or tasks that will mirror the cultural diversity of the state. Tasks range from a wide array of activities like preparing a delicious savoury famous in Gujarat to draping the traditional turban of Rajasthan etc. Each task is tailor made to suit the particular city thus, challenging the intellectual skills, motor skills, additive powers and most importantly one's knowledge of the diversity found in a country like ours! The best performer wins immunity on Friday that ensures that the participant is given an advantage on the elimination day while the weak performers for that task are voted out.
This show starts in Laddakh and ends in Kanyakumari over a period of fourteen weeks and 98 episodes. Contestants are made to stay in a state for ten days where they witness the uniqueness of the area and are acquainted to the various nuances of the state, returning home not just as a Kannadiga but as a complete Indian.
