YES BANK conducts "Zero Hunger Childhood- STOP Food Wastage!" Signature Campaign across India

YES BANK, India’s fourth largest private sector bank, under its community engagement platform YES COMMUNITY conducted a “Zero Hunger Childhood- STOP Food Wastage!” Signature Campaign to commemorate the occasion of World Food Day. Over 500 YES BANK branches conducted a signature campaign to create and spread awareness on Food Wastage; a major cause of hunger in India. More than 100,000 individuals across the country pledged to minimize food wastage and work towards reducing atrocities caused due to starvation.

Speaking about the event, Mr. Rana Kapoor, MD and CEO, YES BANK said “The YES-COMMUNITY program is our pivotal social engagement program through which YES BANK endeavours to make a meaningful contribution to the needs of the local community that we are a part of. These span diverse areas such as Education, Women Empowerment, Health & Wellness and Senior Citizen welfare as we as social financial stability & literacy programmes. The YES-COMMUNITY program also promote a sense of responsibility and awareness amongst over 7500 YES BANK employees. These engagements under YES-COMMUNITY have helped YES BANK build relationships with its immediate communities that go beyond transactional banker-customer relations to engender trust”

According to a recent World Bank report:
ü  Every year 1.3 billion tonnes of food is wasted worldwide

ü  Hunger is World No. 1 health problem

ü  India has 42 % of the world’s underweight children.

ü  58.6 % of the children of 6–9 years and 77.9 % of the children of 10-13years are underweight.
