WISE Prize for Education 2014

The WISE Prize for Education, now in its fourth year, is the first global recognition of an individual or team for an outstanding contribution to education. The Prize is enhancing the status of education by giving it similar prestige to other areas for which international prizes already exist, such as literature, peace and economics.

The WISE Prize for Education recognizes an inspiring and visionary approach as well as a proven track record of achievement in education at any level and in any sector - public, private or voluntary.

Commenting on the opening of the nomination period, H.E. Sheikh Abdulla bin Ali Al-Thani, Ph.D., Chairman of WISE, Qatar Foundation, said: “There are many extraordinary people in the world who are transforming the lives of individuals and communities through their engagement in education. The WISE Prize for Education is a unique opportunity to celebrate the highest achievers. We are looking forward to discovering more education innovators and to identifying a worthy 2014 Laureate.”

Nominations can be made by individuals or institutions - including schools, international organizations and private companies - from anywhere in the world —including India

Submissions must be made through the WISE website www.wiseprizeforeducation.org by March 31.  Nominations will be reviewed by an international committee of education experts and the final selection will be made by a high-level Jury of distinguished individuals chaired by H.E. Sheikh Abdulla bin Ali Al-Thani.

The Laureate, who receives $500,000 (US) will be announced before one of the largest gatherings of education innovators at the sixth World Innovation Summit for Education, taking place November 4-6, 2014, in Doha, Qatar.
