Live Concert by Swarathma Launching Second Album “Topiwalleh’

The ‘Rest Less’ Concert by Bangalore based Rock-Folk Band SWARATHMA, as part of their 10 city tour to launch TOPIWALLEH, will take place at the Freedom Park on 20th May, 7 pm.

The new album is a collection of seven nine songs in Hindi and two Kannada. Topiwalleh examines current everyday social issues from politics to media, from relationships to consumerism, from religion to child sexual abuse in a nudge-nudge, wink-wink but honestly satirical and hard-hitting manner. Swarathma's songs talk of joys and sorrows, of hope, pain and loss, optimism and despair of life. The music and stage-act is a kaleidoscopic rush of Indian folk blended with Western influences in all its unforgettable kitschy theatrics-infused glory. Swarathma is the sound of today's India - contemporary Indian folk, with a fusion of rock, Carnatic and jazz.

One of only few Indian collectives which is as much a visual delight as it's melodically in place, the madhatters that constitute Swarathma are one-of-their-kind. Lyrically sound and musically tight, this Bangalore-based band has gained respect from all quarters in the last few years. Their debut music video for the song ‘Pyaasi’ featured noted classical singer Shubha Mudgal. Their music has a strong social connect and they play free concerts in aid of causes they believe in as part of their Action Replay Concert series.

Swarathma is an award winning folk-rock band from Bangalore that comprises Vasu Dixit (vocals and rhythm guitar), Pavan Kumar KJ (percussion and vocals), Montry Manuel (drums), Varun (lead guitar and vocals), Sanjeev Nayak (violin and vocals) and Jishnu Dasgupta (bass guitar and vocals).
The entry is free.
