BEL donates Rs. 1.11 crore for Uttarakhand flood relief
The officers and employees of Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) have contributed Rs.1.11 crore towards the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for Uttarakhand flood victims. Mr Anil Kumar, CMD, BEL, and Mr M L Shanmukh, Director (HR), BEL, presented the cheque for Rs. 1,11,69,078/- (One crore eleven lakhs sixty nine thousand seventy eight) to Mr A K Antony, Raksha Mantri, on November 26, 2013.

BEL receives Raksha Mantri’s Awards
Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has received the Raksha Mantri’s Awards for Excellence (2011-12) in four categories: ‘Best Performance in Exports’ (Institutional Award), ‘Indigenisation’ (Group/Individual Award), ‘Design Efforts’ and ‘Innovation’. The awards were presented by Mr A K Antony, Raksha Mantri, and
Mr Jitendra Singh, Raksha Rajya Mantri, at a ceremony held at New Delhi on November 25, 2013.

Mr Anil Kumar, CMD, BEL, and Mr V V Balakrishnan, GM (International Marketing Division)/BEL, received the RM’s Award for ‘Best Performance in Exports’ (Institutional Award) from Mr A K Antony, Raksha Mantri. 

Mr M L Shanmukh, Director (HR), BEL, and Mr Vijay Gundannavar, ED (BEL-Chennai), received the RM’s Award for ‘Indigenisation’ (Group/Individual Award) for developing Stabiliser and Auto Loading Gear for T-90 Tank. Mr S K Sharma, Director (Bangalore Complex)/BEL, Mr Suresh N, GM (Naval Systems-II)/BEL-Bangalore, and Dr A K Gupta, Director (IRDE), received the RM’s Award for ‘Design Efforts’ for the development of Electro Optical Fire Control System.

Mr Anil Kumar, CMD, BEL, and Mr R K Handa, GM (NCS)/BEL-Ghaziabad, received the RM’s Award for ‘Design Efforts’ for the development of Identification of Friend or Foe for Boeing. Dr Ajit T Kalghatgi, Director (R&D)/BEL, and Mr Suresh Katyal, GM (Telecom & Broadcast)/BEL-Bangalore, received the RM’s Award for ‘Design Efforts’ for development of IP Encryptor. Mr Prabhat R Acharya, Director (Finance)/BEL, and Cdr T Jagannath, GM (Components)/BEL-Bangalore, received the RM’s Award for ‘Innovation’ for development of Electronic Delay Unit & Receiver module.

P C Jain takes charge as Director (Marketing) of BEL

Mr P C Jain takes charge as Director (Marketing) of BEL
Mr P C Jain took charge as Director (Marketing) of Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) on September 1, 2013. He was General Manager of the Missile Systems Strategic Business Unit at BEL’s Bangalore Complex before his elevation.
Mr Jain joined BEL-Ghaziabad in February 1978 as a Deputy Engineer after graduating in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, Delhi. Later on, while in service, he did MTech in Microwaves from IIT, Delhi.
For the first 10 years in BEL, he worked in R&D – in the area of Microwave Antennas for Radar and Communication Systems. He contributed to the development of Stripline and Microstripline antennas for various Identification of Friend or Foe (IFF) Radars. He spent the next 18 years in the production testing of communication, C4I and Radar Systems. In 2007, he was made head of the Microwave Components Group, where he was responsible for design, development and production of microwave components required for radars and communication equipment in BEL.

He was elevated as the General Manager of the Military Radars Strategic Business Unit at BEL’s Bangalore Complex in January 2010. He successfully executed various important and prestigious projects such as the development of indigenous Weapon Locating Radar and productionisation of Akash Weapon System. During his tenure as General Manager (Military Radar), the Strategic Business Unit won several awards such as the Raksha Mantri Award for Best Performing Division among all Defence PSUs, the Raksha Mantri Award for Import Substitution and CMD’s Rolling Trophy for Best SBU in Business Excellence.

BEL to construct library, auditorium for city Govt college
Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited India (BEL) is, as part ofits Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, constructing a building for the Government First Grade College at HSR Layout, Bangalore,at a projected cost of Rs.50 lakh.
The foundation for the building, which will house a library and auditorium, was laid at a ceremony on August 22, 2013, by Dr B LBhagyalakshmi, Director, Department of Collegiate Education, Government ofKarnataka; and Mrs Latha Narasimha Murthy, BBMP Corporator. Mr Nataraj Krishnappa, GM (HR), BEL-Bangalore; Mr Ghanshyam Narain, GM (TORQUE, CSR &Sustainable Development); BEL Corporate Office; Mr Veeresh D Bevinamarad,GM (HR), BEL Corporate Office; Major Dr M Gopal Reddy, Principal, Government First Grade College; and other senior officers of BEL and college representatives were present.
BEL pursues CSR initiatives in the areas of health care, education, rural development, environment protection and conservation of natural resources.During the year 2012-13, BEL spent Rs. 420.78 lakhs on various CSR programmes. Consequent to the issue of new guidelines on CSR and Sustainability by the DPE, the Company plans to focus its future CSR programmes in Yadgir, which is one of the backward districts of Karnataka. Various community development programmes in the areas of education, healthcare, environment protection and rural development are being planned in association with the district administration and local communities. These programmes are likely to make an impact on the lives of the rural people and accelerate the development of the district.
