#China Slams ‘Malicious’ Indian Media Accusations on Deadly Flood in #Nepal

China pushed back against claims by some Indian commentators who debated whether Beijing was to blame for last week’s deadly landslide along the Nepal-Tibet border.
Experts have determined that “the disaster has been triggered by the collapse of a high-altitude glacier in Nepal,” Guo Jiakun, a spokesman for China’s Foreign Ministry, said in response to a question at a daily briefing in Beijing on Monday. “In the face of major disasters, we firmly oppose such groundless and malicious speculation.”

#Tibet and #Nepal border post destroyed in flash ₹flood in #Nepal
Local authorities have confirmed that axt least three people are dead and 265 others remain missing after a mudslide in #Nepal hit border port of #Gyirong in southwest #China's Xizang Autonomous Region. The exact casualty toll is still being verified, while rescue operations are underway.
China's Ministry of Emergency Management dispatched a working team to assist rescue efforts and sent 249 firefighters from national comprehensive fire and rescue teams, along with 325 personnel from engineering rescue teams.
China's National Commission for Disaster Reduction, the Ministry of Emergency Management and the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration, have allocated 30,000 pieces of relief supplies, including tents, heating equipment, clothing, quilts, folding beds and moisture-proof mats, to support the relocation and assistance of affected residents.
A total of 145 personnel from the Xigaze detachment of the People's Armed Police have been sent to the mudslide-hit border port to assist with emergency response operations after a mudslide struck near Gyirong Port in SW.China's Xizang Autonomous Region on Wednesday. The mudslide on the Nepali side of the border disrupted a road leading to the Gyirong Port. Drone footage showed that some buildings at the port had been buried by debris.
China’s Ministry of Natural Resources activated a Level-II emergency response for geological disasters, the second-highest in China's four-tier emergency response system, and dispatched a working team to the stricken site to guide rescue operations and prevent secondary disasters, sources with the ministry said.
China’s National Commission for Disaster Prevention, Reduction and Relief, together with the Ministry of Emergency Management (MEM), activated a Level-II emergency response for disaster relief, and helped allocate 30,000 central relief supplies including tents, stoves, clothing and quilts, folding beds and moisture-proof mats to support the evacuation, resettlement and relief work.
China’s Ministry of Finance and the MEM also allocated 120 million yuan (about 17.69 million U.S. dollars) in central natural disaster relief funds to support Xizang in carrying out emergency rescue and disaster relief work.
Meanwhile, China’s National Development and Reform Commission earmarked 100 million yuan in central budget investment to support the post-disaster emergency recovery and reconstruction efforts.
The disaster has cut off roads leading to the port on the Chinese side, as well as communications and power supplies, according to the emergency management bureau of Gyirong County in the city of Xigaze.
Gyirong Port is a major land port connecting China and Nepal.

Future 'air taxis' showcased in Wuhan #China

Future 'air taxis' showcased in Wuhan China

The E-HAWK is a hybrid-electric eVTOL developed by Electric Eagle Technology Group, positioned as a “flying car–type” platform aimed at low-altitude logistics and rescue missions. It has recently cleared a key hybrid-power verification flight in Wuhan’s Optics Valley low-altitude pilot zone and has already logged more than 100 test flights, showing stable and repeatable flight behaviour.

From a configuration standpoint, E-HAWK is relatively compact (5.6 m long, 3.9 m wide, 1.8 m high) but heavy-duty for its class. Maximum takeoff weight is 1.2 tonnes, with a payload capacity of 450 kg. Endurance exceeds 20 minutes, which the developers explicitly frame as a limitation-breaker compared with battery-only eVTOLs.

The core technical differentiator is its hybrid power architecture. Instead of using the turbine for direct thrust, E-HAWK employs a micro-turbine coupled to a high-speed permanent-magnet generator. This turbine-generator set produces electrical power for the lift motors and onboard systems, effectively acting as a high-power-density range extender. The design targets better endurance and payload performance while retaining electric propulsion characteristics at the rotors.

The aircraft uses a fully enclosed, eight-channel electric propulsion system. This enclosed layout improves safety and allows “parking-space-level” vertical takeoff and landing, reducing dependence on dedicated vertiports.
Significant engineering effort went into the hybrid system itself. Over roughly two years, the team tackled high-speed rotor modal stability, stator-rotor thermal management, and lubrication reliability for turbine-side bearings operating at extreme RPM. A notable outcome is coordinated control of the turbine-generator and multiple generators operating in parallel, forming a self-organizing onboard power network that simplifies flight-control integration and supports adaptation to different airframes.

The latest test flights focused on validating power stability, transient response, and thermal behaviour in real flight rather than expanding the full flight envelope. While no hard numbers for speed or range were released, the tests confirmed steady turbine-generator operation and reliable power delivery to the rotors, meeting current demonstration goals.

Next development steps include lowering specific fuel consumption, improving cooling efficiency, and pushing the design toward production readiness. Initial applications are planned for cargo and emergency missions around 2026, with crewed operations targeted for 2027

More than a dozen #Chinese J-20 Stealth Fighters near India's #Sikkim border spotted

More than a dozen #Chinese J-20 Stealth Fighters near #Sikkim border spotted

Satellite imagery has revealed China has deployed more than a dozen of its advanced J-20 stealth fighter jets at the high-altitude Shigatse air base in Tibet, less than 150 kilometers from India's Sikkim border.
This development places the J-20s within 300 kilometers of the Indian Air Force's base in Hasimara, Bengal, which houses the IAF's second squadron of 16 Rafale fighter aircraft tasked with defending Eastern India's Himalayan frontier.
The Indian Air Force operates two Rafale squadrons with a total of 36 jets, while China is believed to have manufactured approximately 250 J-20 stealth fighters.
Until recently, the J-20s were primarily stationed on China's eastern frontier, defending the Pacific seaboard.
The presence of at least seven J-20s at Shigatse marks a significant strategic shift and has major military implications for India.
Shigatse, the second-largest city in Tibet, is situated at an altitude of 12,408 feet and has a dual-use airport for civil and military purposes.
The deployment demonstrates the J-20's capability to operate from the harsh environment of ultra-high altitude Tibetan air bases.

After #DolkunIsa #India denies #visa to #Chinese dissident Lu Jinguh & Hong Kong-based activist Ra Wong #softstate

Both of them were coming to attend a conference in Dharamshala on democracy and China organised by US-based 'Initiatives for China'.Lu is a well-known Tiananmen activist, while Ra is a Hong Kong-based activist.

As Chinese authorities retain an iron grip on free thought and opinion, it remains essential to speak out against such abuses. But the Indian action is seen by many as buckling under Chinese pressure.

#Taiwan elects #Tsai Ing-wen, #China worried, issues warning

Taiwan's independence-leaning opposition leader Tsai Ing-wen has won a convincing victory in presidential elections on Saturday.China is pointing hundreds of missiles at Taiwan as it claims a 'renegade province.'In her victory speech, Tsai said she would prioritize uniting and strengthening Taiwan, so the island would have more respect from the international community, The Associated Press reports.

Tsai won 56% of the vote to sweep aside rival Eric Chu of the China-friendly Nationalist Party that had ruled Taiwan under incumbent president Ma Ying-jeou since 2008.
Most of the world's countries — including the U.S., Taiwan's most important backer — do not acknowledge Taiwan as an independent nation. Taiwan is Asia’s fifth-largest economy and one of the top 25 in the world.Tsai’s party doesn’t support the “One-China principle,” which presumes Taiwan to be part of a larger China. While Tsai has taken steps to reassure Chinese Communist Party leaders by saying she won’t push for outright independence, they remain hostile to her and her party. Communist Party leaders apparently believe their legitimacy depends on steady progress toward unifying Taiwan with the mainland. Tsai’s rise stands in the way of that goal.Official Chinese Xinhua news agency has warned that any moves towards independence would be like a “poison” and that would cause Taiwan to perish.
"We hope and believe that the international community will adhere to the one-China principle, oppose 'Taiwan independence' in any form and support peaceful development of cross-Strait relations through concrete actions," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei said in response to questions on Taiwan-related diplomatic situation in the future.

The Chinese government sticks to the one-China principle, opposes "Taiwan independence", "two Chinas", "one China, one Taiwan," he said, adding that this stance remains unchanged and will not change no matter what happens in Taiwan.
On the key issue of safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity, the Chinese government is rock-firm and will never tolerate any secessionist activity of "Taiwan independence", Hong said.
Student leaders of Hong Kong's pro-democracy Umbrella Movement said Sunday they would seek closer ties with Taiwan after the island elected a new president who pledged to stand up to China.

#China ends its 'One Child Policy'

Married couples in China from Friday will be allowed to have two children, almost after 40 years of one child policy. The "one child policy", instituted in the late 1970s, restricted most couples to only a single offspring through a system of fines for violators and even forced abortions.China's population, the world's largest at 1.37 billion, is now ageing rapidly and the country is facing severe gender imbalances, all while the country's workforce is also shrinking.
Under the new law, married couples are now allowed to have a second child, but the legislation maintains limits on additional births.About three million additional babies are estimated to be born each year over the next five years following the implementation of the two-child policy

First #BRICS Media Summit in authoritarian #China

First BRICS Media Summit begins in Beijing Tomorrow. N. Ram Publisher and former Editor-in-Chief, The Hindu Group of Publications and Aroon Purie Chairman & Editor-in-Chief of the India Today Group are on the list of invitees. The first BRICS media summit, initiated and hosted by Xinhua News Agency, draws more than 100 attendants from major media organizations of BRICS countries.
'Media organizations should conduct regular exchanges and cooperation to build a base for information sharing and people-to-people communication in order to promote development of the partnership among BRICS countries', said Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau.

Interesting to note that China's media environment remains one of the world's most restrictive.Chinese government has long kept tight reins on both traditional and new media to avoid potential subversion of its authority. Its tactics often entail strict media controls using monitoring systems and firewalls, shuttering publications or websites, and jailing dissident journalists, bloggers, and activists. Google's battle with the Chinese government over Internet censorship, and the Norwegian Nobel Committee's awarding of the 2010 Peace Prize to jailed Chinese activist Liu Xiaobo, have also increased international attention to censorship issues in China.Chinese media regulations allows authorities to crack down on news stories by claiming that they expose state secrets and endanger the country.

#India has the second highest Higher Education Enrolment in the world after #China

According to FICCI-EY report in 2014, Higher Education Enrolments in India is estimated to grow from 28.5 million in 2012 to 42.1 million by 2020. Another report by EY states that by 2020, India would need 40 million University places; among the existing ones only a few Indian Higher Education Institutes are globally ranked. The acclaimed Foreign Universities have shown interest to realise India’s demographic dividend and have taken a step forward to fill the need gap by offering study programmes which are distinctive and globally competitive. With the increasing demand of both skilled workers and world-class education among the aspiring Indian middle class, India has the second highest Higher Education Enrolment in the world (after China) according to UNESCO.
