#Coca-Cola and Jain Irrigation to Invest Rs.50 cr for Project Unnati

Coca-Cola and Jain Irrigation to Invest Rs.50 cr for Project Unnati
Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd. (HCCBPL)and Jain Irrigation today announced plans to scale up their joint initiative Project Unnati with investments amounting to Rs. 50 Cr. over a period of 10 years.

After achieving the desired results in Phase 1, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd. and Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd. made the announcement of scaling the initiative fivefold reaching 25000 farmers in Phase 2 at an investment of Rs. 50 Cr. over next 10 years. The MOU was signed today by Mr. T. Krishnakumar, Chief Executive Officer, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd Mr. Anil Jain, Managing Director, Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd.

Speaking about the project, Mr. T. Krishnakumar, Chief Executive Officer, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd., said “Scaling up of the initiative in close association with farmers and Jain Irrigation will result in the creation of an ecosystem that delivers higher growth and income for farmers and helps us streamline supply chain and enhance productivity for our Indian brands Maaza and Minute Maid Mango. The scale of this project enables us to confidently continue to deliver the refreshing beverages to consumers at affordable price points. Our long standing partners, Jain Irrigation, understand that partnership between business, civil society and government is the key to building a more sustainable future.”

According to Mr. Anil Jain, Managing Director, Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd.said “India is the largest producer of mango pulp in the world, with one of the lowest mango yield. Ultra High Density offers  is a proven technology, commonly practiced for mango cultivation worldwide and combined with other sustainable agricultural techniques has the potential to yield upward of 200% more produce than the traditional method. We are proud to take our partnership with HCCBPL forward towards large scale adoption of UHDP in the country. Over the next 10 years, we aim to scale up the project to cover end-to-end fruit supply chain and further optimize delivery.”

The Project, in its second phase will identify nearly– 25,000 farmers, holding an area of 50,000 acres and support them in adopting the Ultra High Density Plantation technology. The selected farmers will be provided assistance for using this technology during the duration of the project. While Unnati Phase 1 has successfully trained farmers on UHDP Technology and encouraged them to adapt to the new technology, Unnati Phase 2 is built around building deeper relationship and engagements with farmers. The objective is to harness the higher productivity potential of mango farms to our business by Jain Irrigation offering all UHDP implementing farmers and an option of buying back the fruits cultivated. The scaled up initiative is expected to deliver close to 300KMT fruit by the year 2022-23.

Over two-thirds of the 5,000-crore-a-year Indian juice drinks market consists of mango drinks alone. Juice drinks offer a tremendous business opportunity, if managed on a long-term, sustainable basis. However, the area under mango cultivation is not growing at the same rate. The agricultural practices under Project Unnati offer the basis to improve mango productivity and hence, enhance supply of mango pulp for the industry. Continuous interaction with farmers on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) with support on farm supplements and subsidy shall motivate farmers to be engaged with this project over a long duration. Additionally, Project Unnati will also develop Farmer Loyalty programs which will continue to encourage farmer’s support to this program.

During phase 1 of Project 'Unnati', which was launched in 2011 with an investment of $2 million, partners worked towards highlighting the need of UHDP technology and in assisting early adoption ofof the practice. The project, which is a unique partnership with farmers has established 200 demo farms. Through interventions such as “Coca-Cola University on Wheels” Bus and active outreach, nearly 4000 farmers till date have been covered. UHDP Technology embedded with drip irrigation, on-site training and farm supplement support have been successfully implemented by several farmers, which has led to first harvest of mangoes this year.

Policies, regulatory frameworks, financial mechanisms, access and equity issues all have to be aligned to urgently reduce our water vulnerabilities while enhancing our food and energy security. The Coca Cola Department will strive to respond fully to these needs”. said Dr. Leena Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor of TERI University

The official music anthem for the Coca-Cola 2014 FIFA World Cup™ campaign
The Happiness Flag - the largest photomosaic ever created featuring fan faces and messages
FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola
A uniquely Brazilian visual identity
“Just as Brasil is everyone’s country and Coca-Cola is everyone’s drink, the FIFA World Cup™ is everyone’s cup,” said Joseph Tripodi, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer, The Coca-Cola Company, about the brand’s new campaign for the 2014 FIFA World Cup™.  “Through “The World’s Cup”, Coca-Cola wants to celebrate real people playing football, demonstrating how the game is a force for a more inclusive and connected world.”

The “One World, One Game” television and digital film goes live across the globe today and is the brand’s invitation to the world to join “The World’s Cup”.  The film, created in partnership with Wieden + Kennedy Sao Paulo, brings to life the stories of four football teams from four different corners of the world who have each overcome life’s challenges through their love of the game.  The film sees the teams share their stories of the happiness that football brings them as Coca-Cola surprises each team with invitations to Rio de Janeiro, to see the preparations for the 2014 FIFA World Cup™.  The teams’ experience will culminate in attending the tournament this summer, where they will have the honor of carrying the national team flags onto the pitch at Germany vs. Portugal on June 16th.

In a series of poignant, documentary-style, short films entitled Where Will Happiness Strike Next captured during stops along the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour, Coca-Cola will share stories of passionate football fans that are using the game to help them triumph over adversity, in turn inspiring others to use the power of football to overcome difficulties.  At each film’s climax, the stars are surprised by Coca-Cola and a special viewing of the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy.
“Coca-Cola prides itself on celebrating the power of football and the ability of the sport to bring the world together.  Football is for everyone, regardless of geographical and social boundaries, that’s why this year we are launching “The World’s Cup”.” added Tripodi.

‘The World Is Ours’ is the official music anthem for the Coca-Cola 2014 FIFA World Cup™ campaign featuring vocals from Brazilian born David Correy and sounds from Monobloco – a Brazilian street band.  As Correy travelled across the globe championing the song, local artists were encouraged to put their own spin on the track, giving it a truly global flavor.
In an unprecedented move, Coca-Cola is giving fans from across the globe the chance to be part of the largest flag mosaic ever created and show the power of football to bring people from different backgrounds and beliefs together.  The Happiness Flag – constructed from photos and tweets submitted by fans from around the world – will be seen on-pitch prior to the Opening Match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ in Sao Paulo on June 12th.

Underpinning the entire campaign is the longest ever FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour byCoca-Cola. The visual identity for “The World’s Cup” campaign will be featured on all brand communication during the tournament and represents happiness, togetherness and celebration.  For the first time, the design was created in collaboration with a street artist, employing the unique style and talent of Brazilian artist Speto.  It features the color and characteristic designs of Brazilian street art with the faces of four young people from Brazil reproduced in Speto’s signature graphic style.

The Coca-Cola Company has had a long-standing relationship with FIFA since 1974 and has been an official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup™ since 1978.  Coca-Cola has had stadium advertising at every FIFA World Cup™ since 1950 and is a long-time supporter of football at all levels.

CAST OF ‘GULAAB GANG’ CHAMPIONS THE CAUSE OF SUPPORT MY SCHOOL CAMPAIGN

CAST OF ‘GULAAB GANG’ CHAMPIONS THE CAUSE OF SUPPORT MY SCHOOL CAMPAIGN
Madhuri Dixit visited Shri Govind Bal Mandir School in Andheri today with the cast and crew of her upcoming film – “Gulaab Gang”. The film which has been making waves with its promos has a strong underlying theme of women empowerment and the role education plays in it. Bringing the cause of girl child education to the forefront, the cast interacted with students on the importance of education for girls to earn a place for themselves within the society.
The visit was part of the Support My School campaign which focuses on revitalizing schools in rural and semi-urban areas with provision of basic facilities such as safe drinking water, separate toilets for boys and girls, libraries and promotion of physical sports. Lack of amenities such as hygienic sanitation has been a major cause for dropouts amongst female students at the incidence of puberty.
Actress Madhuri Dixit-Nene said, “As an actress who has worked in this industry for 3 decades now, I have been fortunate to represent many facets of womanhood through my roles. In ‘Gulaab Gang’, we are seeing a whole new face of the woman. The film speaks out on how important it is for every girl to get education to be able to make something of herself and earn the respect she deserves. I want to congratulate Coca-Cola India and all the other partners who have championed Support My School to encourage these girls to stay in school! We need such initiatives in this country.”
Anubhav Sinha, founder and owner of "Benaras Mediaworks Pvt. Ltd." which has produced the film said, “We are all proud to be associated with ‘Gulaab Gang’, a film that truly resonates with the spirit of the Indian woman. The movie talks about educating girls to help them build a future for themselves, and how often socio-economic reasons prevent this. It is at this basic level of primary education where every impetus is needed to keep girls in school. Sanitation has always been highlighted as a major cause for girl dropouts in rural schools. Coca-Cola and campaign partners have taken up a worthy cause with Support My School which focuses on such basic issues. I am confident this will give a boost to girl child education in the country.”
The visit was enabled, facilitated and coordinated by Bottomline Media Pvt. Ltd and was instrumental in making this association happen.
Ms. Tanaaz Bhatia, Managing Director of Bottomline Media Pvt. Ltd. said, “It gives us great pleasure to contribute towards the Support My School campaign. Educating the girl child is such an important endeavor and we are all glad to be able to partner with Coca-Cola and do our bit towards this. Gulaab Gang is a movie that speaks out on the cause of women empowerment and the role education plays in this.”
The Support My School campaign was launched in January, 2011 post the findings of a study on rural and semi-urban schools which highlighted marked absenteeism and dropout amongst female students at the incidence of puberty, due to lack of basic sanitation facilities in their schools. Support My School is a campaign which has recognized this fundamental yet crucial gap and helps bridge it by creating a holistic learning environment for the girl child to continue to study and find her rightful place with dignity and equality.
