Hide & Peek Plans Special Christmas Celebrations for Children

Hide & Peek, a leading chain of play centre for young children, has planned a host of celebrations for the tiny tots this Christmas. While the regular fun fare of cakes and carols are part of all Christmas celebrations, Hide & Peek has come up with many innovative ideas that will bring cheer to the tiny tots this weekend.

Children will be taught and encouraged to make ‘Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer’, the 9th member of Santa Claus’ crew, yet the one who leads the sleigh on Christmas eve. The luminosity of Rudolph’s nose is renowned as it illuminates the team's path through the darkness and chill of winter and it will be fun to have little children interpret it in their own small ways.

Bangalore may not have snow falls yet, but Hide & Peek has planned snowman cupcakes to give children a feel of the North Pole. The facilities at Hide & Peek include sandpit, ball pool, soft play, library and more. What’s more, sumptuous snacks will be served to the children.

Roshini Thadini, Director of Hide & Peek informed, “We strongly feel that urban spaces, rich in culture, diversity and experiences, can provide and nurture the creative world of our children, and hence this initiative. It will provide our children a real feel of Christmas festivities, unlike what they get to watch on TV shows or movies. We plan to celebrate the grand occasion with some very innovative learning exercises that are fun and encourage children to explore our world simultaneously. We also have Balloon Art, Xmas Games and Xmas Carols for the children.”

Hide & Peek, is a warm ‘n bright place, spread over 4,500 sq. ft of childrens' indoor and outdoor play centre. Come rain or sunshine, hide & peek is designed for children birth through elementary age and offers a safe and family-friendly play environment in which both children and parents can have fun! The playschool encourages children to enjoy outdoor playing and discover their world by themselves.

Hide & Peek Christmas Special will take place on Saturday Dec 24, 2011 starting 4-7pm.

DuPont™ Sorona® for the Indian Textile Market

After finding global acceptability for its unique features including resistance to ultraviolet, DuPont’s patented Sorona® fiber is finding acceptability among Indian garment manufacturers. In a new trend in garment style, several leading Indian mills including Arvind, Raymond UCO, KG Denim, Vardhman, Banswara Syntex, Suditi, Raymond Zambaiti, Precot Meridian, and JCT have begun using Sorona®, which is a renewably sourced fiber and that has been introduced by DuPont, the $ 26-billion science and services company. The same was on display in Bangalore Thursday. Globally designer brand Calvin Klein has a range made from Sorona®, which is comfort stretch and durable, allowing garments to retain their shape and size after repeated wear and wash. What is better, Sorona is environment friendly as it uses ingredients from renewably feed stocks.

DuPont™ Sorona® renewably sourced fiber* for the Indian textile market addresses the four principal segments of dynamic fit denim, permanent flex woven, easy stretch woven, and ultra soft knits. Some of the initial developments from select Surat mills working on Sarees and Ladies Wear material segments were also on display.

“New applications, fabrics and end uses that feature Sorona® continue to be developed through our network of fiber and fabric manufacturers. The key to this new development is partners dedicated to working with fibers that can produce high-quality garments while reducing the impact that textiles have on the environment,” said Gowri Nagarajan, business leader, Industrial Biosciences, DuPont India. “Sorona®’s versatility and flexibility allow it to be extruded into a variety of fibers suitable for a broad range of end uses,” he added.

DuPont™ Sorona® renewably sourced fiber continues DuPont’s legacy in fiber and fabric innovation. These new applications continue to highlight the unique combination of performance attributes and environmental benefits that Sorona® provides.

When used in dynamic fit denim and easy stretch woven, Sorona® provides denim and woven fabric consumers with comfort stretch that lasts a lifetime with the exceptional softness next to the skin with a natural feel. Since these important fabric attributes are incorporated into Sorona® at the time of manufacture, these features remain for the lifetime of the fabric. For the intimate apparel segment, ultra soft knits, Sorona® provides a valuable combination of benefits including luxurious softness, flattering drape and easy care. When blended with other natural and synthetic fibers, Sorona® adapts to enhance their performance. Sorona® blends easily with natural fibers including cotton. Spandex, nylon, and other synthetic fibers also are able to be combined with Sorona® for an almost endless limit to fabric development.

For the permanent flex woven segment, Sorona® offers exceptional crease resistance coupled with a softness that makes it comfortable for Jacket wear launched in other regions of the Asia under the “Shape Memory” fabric concept. Once again, these features stay for the lifetime of the fabric and consumers will benefit from the feel of a brand new appeal in the fabric every time they go to wear the garment.

All end uses benefit from the environmental benefits provided by Sorona®. By replacing a traditionally petrochemical-based ingredient with one made from annually renewable feedstocks, Sorona® helps reduce dependence on fossil fuels and petrochemicals. Combine this with the reduced energy consumption and CO2 emissions, when compared to the production of an equal amount of nylon 6, Sorona® stands up to other fibers in environmental comparisons.

DuPont™ Sorona® received Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 Certification in 2011. The Oeko-Tex® Product Class 1 certification, the most stringent class, signifies that Sorona® meets REACH and CPSIA standards and is safe for use with infants and toddlers. DuPont™ Sorona® supports these various uses, as with the others, with hang-tags, literature, trade shows and other marketing and communication efforts. For more information on Sorona® and hangtags, visit http://www.sorona.dupont.com/

* The percentage of narrowband connections (connections to Akamai at speeds below 256 kbps) remains one of the highest globally at 31%

* India’s average connection speed increased 13% quarter over quarter to 844 kbps

Commenting on the report, Sanjay Singh, Managing Director – India, Akamai Technologies, said, “We continue to see encouraging signs of increasing broadband penetration in the country with key metrics such as average broadband speeds and IP addresses, both growing well above 10% sequentially quarter over quarter. The average mobile connectivity speeds in India are also growing at a fast clip and we expect India’s broadband adoption percentage to exceed the 10% threshold from the current 7.1% in the coming year, if these key indicators keep growing at such rates.”

Global Internet Penetration

In the second quarter of 2011, more than 604 million unique IP addresses from 238 countries and regions connected to the Akamai Intelligent Platform. This represents 3.4 percent more IP addresses than connected in the first quarter of 2011, and an increase of 21 percent compared to the same quarter a year ago.

Among those countries listed in the top 10 list for the number of unique IPv4 addresses connecting to the Akamai Intelligent Platform during the quarter, Brazil logged the greatest quarter-over-quarter increase at 9.0 percent, growing to over 15 million IP addresses, with Japan's 8.7 percent growth to nearly 45 million IP addresses a close second. For European countries in the top 10, Italy boasted the greatest quarterly gain at 5.4 percent, growing to just over 14 million IP addresses, while Germany mustered an increase of only 0.4 percent, remaining just below 35 million IP addresses. The United States managed to add only 0.6 percent to its unique IP address count, remaining just below 143.5 million IP addresses.

Mobile Connection Speeds and Data Consumption

In the second quarter of 2011, the average measured connection speed for known mobile providers worldwide ranged from a high of slightly more than 5 Mbps to a low of 209 kbps. Approximately three-quarters of the surveyed providers had average connection speeds above 1 Mbps.

With regard to average peak connection speeds for the 108 mobile providers worldwide for which Akamai analyzed data, the report highlights a range of 23.4 Mbps as the fastest to 1.2 Mbps as the slowest. Of all such mobile providers, three boasted average peak connection speeds above 20 Mbps, 27 achieved average peak connection speeds above 10 Mbps and 47 recorded average peak connection speeds greater than 5 Mbps. Only one mobile provider (located in South Africa) did not record an average peak connection speed above 2 Mbps.

During the second quarter of 2011, mobile consumption figures remained fairly consistent with data from the first quarter. Users at 10 of the surveyed mobile providers consumed an average of 1 GB or more per month from the Akamai platform. Users at 74 of the surveyed providers consumed greater than 100 MB per month of content from Akamai, and users at the remaining 20 providers consumed less than 100 MB per month.

Through its relationship with Ericsson, Akamai continues to include data collected by the equipment provider in the State of the Internet report. According to Ericsson, the volume of mobile data traffic in the second quarter of 2011 doubled year-over-year and grew eight percent quarter-over-quarter.

Attack Traffic and SSL Trends

In the second quarter of 2011, Taiwan generated the most attack traffic observed by Akamai, bumping last quarter's newcomer to the list, Myanmar, to second place. Looking at total observed attack traffic aggregated by region, Asia Pacific/Oceania generated 47 percent of such attack traffic, Europe 30 percent, the Americas 20 percent, and Africa a mere 3 percent.

SSL is widely used across the Web to enable secure communications with social networks, e-commerce sites and financial services applications, to name a few. SSL ciphers help to create these secure connections and are based on well-known encryption algorithms. New to this quarter's report is an examination of trends in SSL ciphers presented by Web clients to the Akamai Secure Content Delivery Network. Since the beginning of 2009, Akamai notes that use of the SSL cipher AES 128-SHA-1 has nearly tripled while the use of SSL cipher RC4-MD5-128 has declined by almost two-thirds. Interpreting the observed trends, as well as data observed for other SSL ciphers, Akamai believes the use of RC4-based ciphers may reach near-zero levels over the next several years. Furthermore, these trends may indicate a shift towards stronger ciphers, which could lead to SSL becoming more secure over time.

Moving to High Broadband Connectivity

In the second quarter of 2011, 27 percent of all connections to the Akamai Intelligent Platform were made at high broadband speeds (>5 Mbps). Taking the top spot in high broadband adoption is the Netherlands, which boasts 68 percent of its country’s connections to Akamai above 5 Mbps. Hong Kong and South Korea achieved 59 percent and 58 percent high broadband adoption respectively. Within the list of top 10 countries in high broadband adoption, seven are in Europe.

New Cloud Security and Compliance Solutions Added to The Akamai Intelligent Platform

Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the leading cloud platform for helping enterprises provide high-performing user experiences on any device, anywhere, today introduced two new solutions to the Akamai Intelligent Platform™ – Akamai® DDoS Defender and Akamai Compliance Management Modules. Businesses extending their sites and applications onto Akamai's Intelligent Platform expect exceptional availability of their mission-critical Web sites and applications along with assistance in meeting the stringent data compliance requirements associated with data privacy. These two new offerings are designed to help customers avoid the potential of millions of dollars in fines and other related costs, including downtime and irreparable damage to brand reputation.

In addition, through a new relationship with Evidon, also announced today, Akamai will be able to offer its customers easy access to advanced privacy and compliance services for the management of the Industry Self-Regulatory Program in the US, the European ePrivacy Directive, and its corollary self-regulatory effort for Online Behavioral Advertising.

As enterprises push more of their business transactions to the Internet, they expose critical data and operations to the threat of a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack. These attacks are becoming more sophisticated -- exploiting different layers of security vulnerabilities and rendering traditional security controls ineffective. Moreover, the unique nature of each DDoS attack makes planning, monitoring, mitigation and post-incident analysis complex and can cause a significant resource drain on any organization. To address these challenges, Akamai introduced Akamai DDoS Defender which builds on the Company's massively distributed platform and proven ability to protect key online assets and prevent DDoS attacks from making Web sites unavailable.

Akamai DDoS Defender bundles multi-layered security capabilities with Akamai's team of world-class DDoS service professionals to provide a unified approach to counteracting the growing number of DDoS attacks. The solution offers an evolving set of Akamai's industry-leading cloud security capabilities designed to protect against a variety of DDoS attacks. It also includes services to support customers in all phases – before, during and after DDoS attacks to ensure rapid execution and efficient response.

"Distributed denial-of-service attacks attempt to make a Web site unavailable to their intended users. In recent months we've seen a significant increase in the number, size, and sophistication of these types of attacks -- the impact of which can extend long past the immediate loss of revenue, resources and productivity to cause damage to brand equity and customer trust," explained Andy Ellis, chief security officer, Akamai. "Our ability to protect our customers from DDoS attacks is a major differentiator for Akamai, and it is a result of the capabilities built into our highly distributed Akamai Intelligent Platform, which is designed to allow us to meet assaults closer to where they are originating and absorb malicious traffic before site performance is impacted."

Also newly available to customers are the Akamai Compliance Management solutions. These offerings are intended to help customers reduce the complexity and associated costs of ensuring their companies are in compliance with information security standards and regulations. Consisting of five distinct modules, the service provides supporting tools and documentation to streamline compliance initiatives within the following industry frameworks:

* HIPAA – Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act

* PCI DSS – Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard

* FISMA – Federal Information Security Management Act

* ISO – International Organization for Standardization Code of Practice for Information Security Management (ISO 27001/27002)

* BITS – The Financial Services Roundtable Technology Policy Division

"With the increasingly sophisticated and malicious attempts to breach IT security, industry standards and regulatory statutes to protect data have become more complex, making the compliance process much more demanding," continued Ellis. "Akamai's Compliance Management solutions are designed to help our customers simplify the process of meeting these often arduous information security reporting and auditing requirements."

At the foundation of both new offerings is the Akamai Intelligent Platform, which delivers as much as 30 percent of global Web traffic on any given day. By transforming the chaos of the Internet into a predictable, scalable, and secure platform for business, Akamai provides the security, scalability, and visibility customers require to more easily and cost-effectively secure web properties and assist in complying with industry standards as they move more mission-critical applications to the cloud.

Akamai Intelligent Platform to Address Challenges of a Hyperconnected World

Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the leading cloud platform for enabling secure, high-performing user experiences on any device, anywhere, today unveiled wide-ranging technology advancements to its Akamai Intelligent Platform™. Introduced at Akamai Edge 2011, the Company's annual customer conference, Akamai demonstrated new solutions for application acceleration from the enterprise to the cloud, mobile site acceleration and adaptation, security, and the monetization and distribution of rich media – all designed specifically to meet the evolving requirements of doing business in a hyperconnected world.

The emergence of the hyperconnected world has presented new technology challenges for businesses as they strive to deliver content and applications to customers, partners, suppliers and employees, independent of user device or physical location. Current estimates identify more than 35 billion connected devices around the world, with projections forecasting there to be a staggering 1 trillion connected devices in just the next two years.1 The Akamai Intelligent Platform is designed to mitigate the challenges of operating in a hyperconnected world by providing a single platform over which businesses can engage users across the Web, mobile, cloud, or a mix of public and private network environments.

"Although companies have long been doing business on the Internet, online content and applications have evolved significantly over time, as have user habits and expectations," explained Lydia Leong, research vice president, Gartner. "We now live in an always-connected, multi-device world, where workers and consumers expect to be able to immediately access rich, interactive experiences, with high levels of performance and quality, as well as the assurance of security. As site complexity and user expectations continue to increase, organizations will continue to seek out partners that they can trust to simplify the intricacies of successful content and applications delivery, improve the user experience, and allow them to focus on their core competencies. "Offering a unified set of solutions for business innovators looking to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the hyperconnected world, such as reaching new markets, increasing IT agility, and communicating anywhere, the Akamai Intelligent Platform has now evolved to address the following customer needs:

Optimize Application Delivery from the Enterprise to the Cloud

Today's worker needs to access business applications that live in the enterprise, the cloud and in some cases a combination of both. They expect a seamless experience, independent of how, or where, the application is accessed. The Akamai Intelligent Platform provides enterprises with new ways to connect to cloud services that best meet their requirements.

Akamai now offers customers the ability to embed cloud optimization services into leading public cloud computing platforms to provide a unified and simple-to-configure offering for users leveraging the cloud. In addition, Akamai has extended its global platform into corporate data centers as users increasingly reach-out to the cloud when accessing applications on private networks. Building on relationships with IBM, to accelerate WebSphere applications in the data center across the public Internet, and with Riverbed Technology, to extend Akamai's edge from close proximity to the data center to directly within the enterprise, Akamai is securing and optimizing applications that traverse both public and private networks.

Enable Mobile Site Optimization, Adaptation & Performance

Understanding the value of an exceptional Web experience independent of device and in an increasingly mobile world, Akamai has taken several steps to ensure effective acceleration and optimization of sites delivered to a wide variety of mobile devices.

A suite of mobile site solutions, expected to be available in the first half of 2012, is designed to combine Internet network and protocol optimization with front end optimization (FEO) to provide a comprehensive performance solution for any business with a mobile site. In addition, through the company’s relationship with Ericsson, Akamai is working to extend its platform into mobile networks, further improving the consistency of experience for mobile subscribers where it matters most.

Akamai has also taken steps to expand its capabilities to help customers build mobile sites more quickly. Akamai has completed the integration of its fully managed mobile adaptation solution and is announcing a new partnership with Netbiscuits for developers and sites that require additional levels of self service and control. The combination of all of these technologies is designed to help enable the best mobile experience for users while reducing the cost and complexity needed to optimize for the evolving landscape of mobile device types and browsers.

Support the Explosive Demand for Multi-Device Consumption

Emerging technology and consumer demands have been accelerating the evolution of the media industry, and technology continues to disrupt traditional media models and value chains. Consumers are demanding more flexible access to content across a variety of mobile and connected devices, and at the highest quality possible. As a result, Akamai has seen the adoption of its flagship solution, the Akamai HD Network, more than double by media businesses over the last year.

As the demand for rich media continues to evolve, Akamai is announcing the availability of a modular TV Everywhere solution for rapidly enabling entitlement-based content models to further its reach into the hyperconnected world. TV Everywhere allows consumers to access their favorite subscription television programming across multiple devices. Akamai's TV Everywhere solution is comprised of high quality delivery, content security, sophisticated analytics, and identity services. Akamai’s cloud-based approach offers a simple, standardized integration across platforms and devices to securely connect programmer content libraries with operator subscribers, as well as technology to ensure consumers have a consistent and continuous viewing experience that flows seamlessly from device to device.

Akamai is also announcing the general availability of its integrated Media Analytics product suite, allowing content providers to synchronize viewers’ Quality of Experience with audience engagement statistics for the first time. This extends their visibility into how content, quality and packaging decisions impact their audience and delivers insights for the best ways to create and deliver "sticky" content.

"Users no longer 'go online' in the hyperconnected world, they are always online, and businesses of all types need effective solutions to reach these users with content and applications across any experience, any device, anywhere," said Tom Leighton, chief scientist of Akamai. "The Akamai Intelligent Platform offers a powerful, unified solution to how enterprises can architect their businesses for the future."

Highlights at Akamai Edge 2011

Attendees at this week's Akamai Edge 2011 will be the first to preview many of the updates and advancements to the Akamai Intelligent Platform. Akamai will present live demonstrations and performance results derived from the Riverbed and Ericsson relationships, showcase advances in its mobile, FEO and media capabilities, and exhibit a refreshed customer portal design planned for release in 2012.
