Canon launches nine PIXMA inkjet printers
Canon, a world leader in digital imaging today introduced 9 new inkjet printers. The new line up includes PIXMA Ink Efficient E400 & E560, Business AIO PIXMA MX 477 & MX 537, Photo AIO PIXMA MG 5570, Compact Single Function PIXMA iP 2870, Business A3+ Single Function PIXMA iX6770 & iX6870 & Photo A3+ Single Function PIXMA iP 8770.

With an aim to enhance appeal of inkjet printers for students, Canon also rolled out a brand new marketing campaign titled ‘Super Student’ to build thrust for its new PIXMA range of printers. The campaign focuses on the star product PIXMA E400 and talks about how this product enables every student to bring out the best in him/ her.

Speaking on this occasion Dr. Alok Bharadwaj, Executive Vice President, Canon India said “Today’s techie kids are expressing their talent using state-of-art technology. We are calling such kids as  “Super Student”. They are comfortable using smart devices including cloud and Wifi printing. For them we have introduced new models of ink efficient home printers. These models offer brilliant functionality and super affordable printing as low as 99 paisa per print. They are designed specifically for students enabling them to unleash their creativity with bundled applications and Creative Park Premium access”.


He further added “In total we are launching 9 new inkjet printers some of which are meant for business users, CAD users and professional photographers.”

The new PIXMA Ink Efficient E560 and E400 are designed to combine outstanding print quality with incredible cost-per-print savings. For the PIXMA E560 in particular, users can also enjoy popular productivity features such as automatic 2 side printing and wireless connectivity, which are highly sought-after features in any modern home-office.

The PIXMA MX477 and MX537 are affordable Wireless Office All-In-One printers that offer users incredible mobility when printing or scanning documents, using their PCs, laptops and mobile devices.


The PIXMA iX6770 and iX6870 can print up to A3+ size documents, and are designed for the home office and small office, while the iP8770 is capable of producing stunning monochrome or color photographs up to A3+ size.


The PIXMA MG5570 is stylish and advanced photo AIO with cloud printing and is available in two body color options black and white.

Powerful Cloud Printing Solutions


All wireless Canon PIXMA printers are also cloud-print enables devices, offering true print-from-anywhere mobility when paired with the Google Cloud Print service. Users can now print to the printer when they are out of the office, using the Gmail or Google Docs interface on a mobile device, or from the Google Chrome web browser on PCs and laptops running on Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Chrome operating systems



In addition to Google Cloud Print compatibility, the PIXMA MX537 and PIXMA MG5570 also allow users to enjoy the new PIXMA Cloud Link service. PIXMA Cloud Link allows users to access and print from popular third-party services such as Facebook, Evernote, Dropbox, Twitter, amongst many others.

PIXMA Cloud Link can also be accessed using the new Canon PIXMA Printing Solutions app, providing even more ways to print using mobile and tablet devices.


Unleash your Creativity with My Image Garden

The printers are bundled with the groundbreaking My Image Garden software to offer a variety of image organization and creative printing features. Photographs can be organized by Calendar, Event, and people views. For People view, the software utilises Image Assortment and Face Recognition technology to sort photos using facial characteristics of the subjects and into respective folders for easy retrieval.



My Image Garden also features integration with Full HD Movie Print, allowing users to capture and extract the most perfect frames from high definition movies captured on Canon EOS, Powershot, Ixus cameras, as well as Legria camcorders. Photos can also be transformed with unique Fun Filter Effects such as Fish Eye and Miniature adjustments to produce wildly creative picture-perfect memories.

 Caring for environment

All printers feature a unique Auto Power ON/OFF function, making a big reduction in environmental impact. The Auto Power ON function allows the printers to wake from rest to carry out print tasks. The Auto Power OFF function shuts off the printers after a user-determinable period of time. This smart-sensing feature is designed to conserve energy, and minimize needless interaction with the printer when not printing or scanning. Launch of Canon Business Services (CBS) in India

Canon India Pvt. Ltd, India’s No. 1 Complete Digital Imaging Company today announced the launch of Canon Business Services (CBS). With the launch of this new service, Canon’s Office Imaging Solution Division (OIS) expands its offering, becoming a provider of digital document management services and print room services.

Canon promotes Photography culture with India Kliks
With an aim to promote photography culture, Canon India, a world leader in Digital Imaging Space, associated with a highly acclaimed international photography event – India Kliks. Inaugurated by Dr. Alok Bharadwaj, Executive Vice President, Canon India, the India Kliks which started today at Dilli Haat, INA not only evoked tremendous interest among participants but also among non-participants and enthusiasts as well. The mega event will go on until February 16, 2014.
With the theme – BLISS, over 5000-odd entries competed and the best 100 were handpicked by a celebrated jury of photographers and photo-critics from India and abroad. Canon launches PowerShot G16 in India

Canon launches PowerShot G16 in India
Canon India, world leader in Digital Imaging Space is pleased to introduce the latest of their enthusiast “G” Series – the PowerShot G16 in India. The PowerShot features an all-new DIGIC 6 processor coupled with a new 12.1MP High Sensitivity CMOS sensor, giving it unprecedented speed, and image quality, as well as the ability to shoot Full HD1080p video at 60p. Its high speed AF greatly improves focus speed by shooting 12.2fps continuous shooting in (at) full resolution and 5.7 fps with AF. Useful features like built-in Wi-Fi, artistic HDR Scene Mode, as well as a bunch of star shooting modes designed better capture the brilliance of the night sky, make the G16 a highly useful tool for newcomers and enthusiasts alike.

The G16 with its 12.1 megapixel HS CMOS sensor with DIGIC 6 imaging processor, produces phenomenal image quality great details and performs superbly in low light as well.
The PowerShot G16 features a zoom range of 5x, with a focal range of 28mm-140mm and this is expandable to 10x using Canon’s new ZoomPlus feature. The bright f/1.8 (W) – f/2.8/ (T) lens performs beautifully especially in low light, perfect for creating dramatic soft backgrounds with shallow depth-of-field.
A unique new feature of the PowerShot G16 is the new Star Shooting modes, for users who like to take photos and videos of night skies. These modes are Star Nightscape, Star Trails and Star Time-Lapse Movie, and they allow never-seen-before control over creating stunning photography of the night sky, in a number of creative ways.
PowerShot G16 takes imaging to the next level by improving on existing creative filters. Featuring the new Background Defocus feature, the camera can produce the “bokeh” effect. It does this by taking two photos, and the two images are then analyzed and the background is digitally blurred according to user-desired levels. The High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode was first introduced in 2010, and Canon has now improved this function by adding 5 new artistic effects to it (Natural, Art Standard, Art Vivid, Art Bold, and Art Embossed).

Canon India Pvt Ltd., India’s No. 1 Complete Digital Imaging Company, today announced its entry into the commercial photo printing business in India, introducing the new DreamLabo 5000 commercial inkjet printer equipment targeting the retail photo and album printing industry. With this new launch, Canon India marks its entry into the commercial photo printing market, a new business domain for the company.
The press announcement event was attended by Mr. Kensaku Konishi - President & CEO, Canon Singapore Pte Ltd.
Delivering a new standard of combined photo and text quality together with high productivity, the DreamLabo offers the production photo printing market a viable alternative to silver halide technology, which will revitalize the photo printing market in the country. In addition, through opportunities possible from premium quality, it offers both the production photo and the small batch premium print-on-demand (POD) markets substantial new revenue opportunities.
This launch makes India the first country in South Asia where the Dreamlabo 5000 machines is being installed.

Further elaborating on the announcement, Dr. Alok Bharadwaj, Executive Vice President, Canon India, said, “India is a 3000 crore photo printing industry with lion share coming from wedding albums & travel vacation photos. While there is tremendous change in photo capturing, the printing art is still dominated with conventional technology. Conventional silver halide technology is just too old and digital alternative is not matching customer expectations. There was enormous scope of value creation in this space. Our partners call the new Dreamlabo 5000 prints as HD (high definition) prints. We plan to start with Rs. 15 crore coming out of this domain in 2014. It has a potential to create 100 crore business stream in 5 years.”
He further added “This launch has put India on a global map of Hi quality digital photo printing. To promote this business and to impact a larger ecosystem, Canon organized a meet comprising of photo labs, wedding photographers, wedding planners and event agencies in Bangalore today”.
Leveraging and extending Canon’s existing inkjet technology, which it has successfully deployed through its PIXMA desktop printers range, the DreamLabo 5000 features a newly developed high-density print head, enabling over 300 mm wide printing output. Incorporating Canon’s FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) technology, the print head enables the printing of high-quality photos and detailed text to support a variety of high-value-added output, from premium photo albums, photo books, photo calendars, photo collages and other merchandise to high-quality POD items, such as bespoke brochures.
The wide print head delivers high-speed One-Pass Printing, requiring only a single pass of the printing paper while the print head remains in a fixed position. When used in combination with the automatic Double-sided Printing function, the DreamLabo 5000 is capable of printing the contents of A4 size print approx.1,000 page and 4x6 single print approx. 2,300 page per hour.

The system also realizes high productivity by enabling paper and ink tank replacement during printing, supporting the extended operation times required for production printers.
DreamLabo 5000 uses a seven-colour dye-based ink system that delivers smooth gradation.  Employing image processing technology that makes use of the full range of Canon’s unique inkjet printing colour gamut, the new printer enables the output of photo images with a level of colour representation comprehensively surpasses that of conventional silver halide.

The retail price of DreamLabo 5000 in INDIA is approximately INR 4.5 crore. Canon will be working with its sales team and channel partners to reach out to the masses with this new area of business

The program was well received and attended by Channel’s FOS at Hyderabad with their insatiable desire of learning. Gurukul’s sessions included episodes aimed at enhancing their proficiency by providing them with extensive knowledge on the technological advancements and innovations taking place at Canon India.

The two day session acted as a platform for the channel partner’s sales team to build relationship with Canon senior leadership. This year the program was attended by channel partners from across the country, covering sales team of more than 100 from 68 cities.

Canon India Pvt Ltd, India’s No. 1 Complete Digital Imaging Company, today shared the growth journey for its Office Imaging Solutions division (OIS) in India since last 16 years and the growth plans for the division by the end of 2015. The division planned deeper penetration in C, D and E towns and further expanded the service location from before 546 to 700+ locations currently to support development in smaller cities.



Canon’s OIS division focuses on offering unparalleled A3 MFPs, high-end document and production scanners, solutions and Managed document services (MDS) to large enterprises, SMEs, Government sector across verticals. Currently, Canon is No.1 in A3 MFP segment with a market share of 25.9% as on June 2013 IDC report and plans to increase its market share to 29% by end of 2015.



The division is aggressively tapping the SME market specially the manufacturing units in C, D and E class where the print volume is around 1-2 lakh a month. Canon is working with its channel partners in these cities who will be focusing on SMEs and PSU segments. Canon plans to enable the SME community by introducing cost effective workflow solutions and Managed Document Services offering. With this SMEs will get access to enterprise class technology which will help them streamline their printing infrastructure, save cost and be eco-friendly.



The division is also targeting cities like Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Cochin, Patna and Bhubaneswar.

Canon India on a positive trajectory to support Eye care, Education and Environment

In line with its continued commitment to the society, Canon India today added another milestone to its philanthropic efforts by donating an eye check-up machine to the vision centre at Ferozepur Namak village in Mewat District of Haryana. Under its ‘Adopt a Village’ social initiative, Canon India had Canon India’s key CSR projects Adopt a village • Enrolment of girl child in senior classes increased by 45% from last year. • Increase in the number of teachers at the school from 09 to 44. • Screening of over 6,000 patients in the last one year. • 52 eye screening camps have been organized at the facility. • 187 surgeries have been conducted in partnership with the I Care Eye Hospital, Noida. undertaken the responsibility of developing the village infrastructure last year to provide seamless support to its inhabitants with core interventions in Eye care, Education and Environment for a period of three years.

In the last one year, significant progress has been recorded by Canon India in the village with respect to education of the girl child.  While the enrolment of girl child in senior classes increased by 45% from last year, the number of teachers at the school also increased from 09 to 44, post Canon’s adoption of government school in the village. Regular parent-teacher meetings are conducted at the school for creating awareness amongst parents. Teachers are trained on a monthly basis under the program.

 “As a part of the ‘Adopt a Village’ project, Canon India has established a sustainable eye care facility –a vision centre at the village to treat cataract. We are proud of this facility as it has seamlessly supported our efforts towards eye care through screening of over 6,000 patients in the last one year. 52 eye screening camps have been organised at the facility and 187 surgeries have been conducted in partnership with the ICare Eye Hospital, Noida. We hope that the eye check-up machine being donated by Canon India today further strengthens our endeavour to increase these numbers to benefit as many people as possible”, he further added.

Furthermore, Canon India also plans to start English language classes for the students under Canon’s employee volunteering programs, which would ensure a close connect between the employees and the villagers.


As a responsible business, Canon India takes pride in being socially inclined and focuses on sustained and effective CSR projects. The CSR policy aligns with the corporate philosophy of Kyosei, which means living and working together for common good.


Other CSR projects undertaken by the company include adoption of 3 rapid metro stations for creating a green belt around them in Gurgaon and a photo exchange program between Canon India and Canon China wherein kids in the adopted villages of these two countries click pictures with Canon cameras and share them across boundaries with each other.



Going forward, Canon India plans to initiate its village adoption programmes in Bangalore & Mumbai.

Extremely focused to make the Durga Puja campaign a hit in East India market, Canon has extended the celebrations with print advertisements, a radio campaign and by placing point of sale material featuring the brand icon, Anushka Sharma at all Canon retail outlets in the region. Canon also unveiled the new TV commercial focused on digital SLR EOS 70D being rolled out from this month onwards.
Canon’s steady move of reaching out to masses begins with the new-age generation and mothers who desire to nurture their kids’ creative instincts. Calling it as the ‘Joy of Photography’, Canon wishes to enhance customer experience whilst capturing the special moments of life. And one of the models that will capture the essence of photography for mothers and kids is the EOS 100D – the world’s smallest and lightest DSLR packed with advanced features. The EOS 100D weighs 370 grams which is approx 20% lighter as compared to any light weight Canon DSLR available. Canon admires this model to be one of the preferred options of customers who want to carry light and small yet very high image quality creative tool. Moreover, Canon will also be launching a Digital campaign for reaching out to the target audience in the most effective way.

Further to enhance photography culture in India, Canon recently launched an EOS Academy, conducting free and paid workshops; and seminars for Genre Photography at Canon Location and facility. The registration charges range between INR 1500 – INR 2500. These workshops are conducted by a panel of Photography experts and Centre for Photo & Movie Development Team. IndiaKliks joins hands with Canon India to promote photo culture in the country

Come September and you can expect every person with a camera in his hand to be busy. Light Chasers, in an exclusive association with Canon India, today announced IndiaKliks - an international photo event and one of the biggest photography contests for Indian photo enthusiasts.  The contest, which opens today, promises to provide a huge opportunity for budding photographers in India to click photographs and win a chance for their work to be recognized, displayed, and rewarded with exciting prizes. The contest will run from August 28 till October 31 this year.

Canon India today announced the appointment of Mr. Andrew Koh as Senior Director of the brand’s Imaging Communication Products (ICP) business effective August 2013.

Mr. Koh is based in New Delhi and operates out of Canon India’s headquarters located in the National Capital Region (NCR). In his new role as the Senior Director of the ICP business in India, Mr. Koh would be responsible to steer Canon’s positioning as leaders in Digital photography & help grow the pie for Digital SLR category. The recent changes in the camera industry such as increasing need for hi-end compact cameras, growing sales of high functionality compact cameras and strong consumer interest in D-SLR & lenses are some crucial factors for the company to develop photography oriented applications and Andrew’s extensive international experience will be huge value add.

A dexterous professional with career spanning over 25 years, Mr. Koh brings with him a robust experience in the Imaging Communications business. In this illustrious career, Mr. Koh has spent 16 years  with Canon. To begin with, Andrew served as Marketing Manager for Imaging Systems Products that included microfilm printers and document scanners. Moving ahead, he played a significant role as the head of Computer Peripheral Division wherein he was actively involved in driving Canon’s leadership in the Single Function Printer and AIO (all-in-one machines) space. Mr. Koh also steered the entire gamut of Consumer Imaging & Information Group in Singapore as Senior Director and General Manager and was effective in formulating future marketing strategies in line with the company’s vision.

Andrew holds a Masters degree in Strategic Marketing from the University of Hull and a Diploma in marketing  from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK).
