To coincide with British Columbia Premier Christy Clark’s visit to India and the official opening of the Thompson Rivers University office in the Bangalore, TRU is excited to announce the launch of its 2011–2012 social media campaign for India. This campaign is an innovative recruitment strategy that allows Indian students to network with each other both before and after coming to Canada.
Premier Clark will attend as will Dr. Alan Shaver, the President of Thompson Rivers University, and other members of the TRU executive.
TRU’s innovative campaign will raise awareness of study opportunities in British Columbia, Canada’s westernmost province. More specifically, it will demonstrate what Thompson Rivers University has to offer students from India wishing to pursue their education in Canada. The campaign incorporates cutting edge marketing tools such as an interactive e-brochure, an e-shot campaign, and a comprehensive Facebook campaign, and aims to reach millions of prospective students in India. The students themselves play an important role in this social media strategy. By communicating with each other they can pose and answer questions, share opinions, and get information in a very transparent and authentic manner.
Thompson Rivers University recognizes the exemplary quality of students in India seeking higher educations overseas. However, many students do not have direct access to institutions of higher learning abroad, and are faced with a major challenge in selecting the university that best suits their needs. By establishing a strong presence in India through local offices and now an integrated online campaign, Thompson Rivers University hopes to help bridge the gap for such students and provide them with improved access to information on study in Canada.
The campaign launch event will also highlight Premier Clarks’ focus on business relations between India and BC.
Thompson Rivers University is a leader in International Education in Canada and is located in the beautiful interior of British Columbia, Canada. We are proud to offer a unique blend of academic, trades & technology and distance learning options.
