The LV Prasad Eye Institute were visited by a newly formed NGO - 'Universal Care Foundation of India' today. Members of the foundation including Mr Mohd Moinuddin, Mr Sajjad Khan, Mrs Razia Khan and Mrs Nusat Baig amongst others came to the institute to present blankets that were to be used by the institute for the large number of non-paying free patients that undergo a variety of eye surgeries in the institute. The institute undertakes around 100 complicated eye surgeries every day and almost 50% of these surgeries are done totally free for those who cannot afford to pay for such surgeries
The Universal Care Foundation has shortlisted blindness and eye disease, diabetes and cancer as their focal area of assistance to people who cannot afford the treatment apart from plans to set up vocational training centers for young girls in the near future. In fact, earlier this month, they organised a health and eye screening camp for 2000 children at the Sultan ul Loom schools in the old city and the team from LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) were there to screen the children and offer expert eye care for the needy children at their eye care centers in the city.
At a short ceremony today Mr Sajjad Khan of the Universal Care Foundation stated that they would work with LVPEI to bring excellence in eye care to the underprivileged in Hyderabad. Dr Chandrasekhar, Vice Chair of LV Prasad Eye Institute, accepting the blankets on behalf of the institute stated"' we are more than happy to work with NGO's like Universal Care Foundation to reach out to the masses"
