Mahindra Satyam, a leading global consulting and IT services provider, today announced that its Singapore Data Center has achieved the (Singapore Standard) SS 507:2008 certification for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Services, which also conforms to the ISO 24762:2008 Guidelines.
Mahindra Satyam is the first Indian IT services company in Singapore, to have achieved this certification. This achievement demonstrates company’s rigorous implementation of structural and systematic procedures in line with stringent international data management standards.
The 3000sq.ft data center, which is one of the company's largest facilities outside India, manages more than 10 global hosted customers. Mahindra Satyam’s Singapore Global Data Center offers Hosting Services customized to business requirements encompassing Intercontinental, Intercity, Intra-city Disaster Recovery and Regional Hosting Solutions.

In the certification award ceremony held at Singapore, Wu Tek Ming handed over the Certificate to C.P.Gurnani.
The certification audit was conducted in three phases from May till July 2011, by M/s. TUV SUD PSB Pte Ltd. The scope of the audit included both Disaster Recovery Facility and Disaster Recovery Services.
Before the audit, Mahindra Satyam had made changes to its Quality Management System to address the requirements of the SS 507 standard and started the implementation in November 2010.
As part of the journey towards the certification, internal guidelines were formulated to assess all Data Center activities from a disaster readiness perspective. At the same time, Mahindra Satyam is making continued efforts to maintain the highest possible technical service levels for all customers at all times.
SS507 is a Singapore Standard that was prepared by the Technical Committee on Security and Privacy Standards under the purview of the Information Technology Standards Committee.
This standard provides a basis to certify and differentiate business continuity and disaster recovery service providers, helps end user organizations in selecting the best service providers and provides quality assurance. It also establishes industry best practices to mitigate outsourcing risks.
ISO/IEC 24762:2008 provides guidelines on the provision of Information and Communications Technology Disaster Recovery ("ICT DR") Services as part of Business Continuity Management, applicable to both “in-house” and “outsourced” ICT DR Service providers of physical facilities and services.
