In an endeavor to make a positive contribution for the children of the underprivileged communities, Fujitsu Consulting India organized a ‘Go Green Walkathon’ involving its employees and school children. The aim was to demonstrate awareness through maximum participation, around a range of educational and environmental issues.
Fujitsu volunteers united for this noble cause early on, and marched ahead with motivational messages and ‘Go Green’ slogans from the Fujitsu Office at Bommanahalli, to Tree Park, HSR Layout. The volunteers engaged in educational activities by conducting skits, an interactive quiz, and ‘Go Green’ awareness games with the school children. The interactions drew immense appreciation from the school children, teachers and the principal alike.
More than 50 associates gathered at the Fujitsu Campus for the event, holding “Go Green” posters on re-usable paper, and marched towards the “Tree Park” in HSR Layout. The approximate distance covered was 3 Km. Some of the associates even brought their children along for the cause. The Fujitsu Bangalore office was also decorated with motivational messages to THINK GREEN. Various school kids (along with their parents) residing in HSR layout participated. The target was not just one school, but an entire locality.
Other initiatives such as waste management and plant adoption drives were also conducted in the school premises. The highlight of the day was the flash mob demonstration by the volunteers, complimented by an equally enthusiastic participation from the school children. The children also vocalized the ‘Go Green’ slogans along with the Fujitsu volunteers. The session concluded with the distribution of goodies to the children for their enthusiasm and active participation, by the Fujitsu volunteers. The teachers and principal felicitated and thanked the volunteers for the fun-filled and interactive awareness program.
“Environment sustainability is one of the core elements at Fujitsu. Green innovation policy for greater sustainability has been the forefront of our CSR objective. Saving our planet for a sustained and healthier life was the focal point of this initiative. Our employees have helped spread this message to the children who are our future. We are happy that it was a success,” said Pratima Salunkhe, Director HR, Fujitsu Consulting India.
“We shall continue our efforts to sensitize the masses regarding the need for continuous contribution in making this earth a better place” said the volunteers at the end of the Walkathon.
