Bangalore Nano, after five successful editions, emerged as the most sought after Nanoscience & Nanotechnology forum for its stakeholders. Last edition witnessed the surge in the number of participants not only from India but also International Community, reflecting the popularity of the event across Industry Leaders, International Trade Delegations, R&D Fraternity, Academia, Policy Makers and Investor giving an excellent platform for knowledge-sharing, networking and business. The event's success has shown that Nanotech is no longer nano, but is mega to all its stakeholders. It had successfully laid down the use of nanotechnology applications in various walks of life.
The stage has been set for the revolution in nanotechnology to take a BIGGER leap. Hence the Department of IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka under the able guidance of Vision Group on Nanotechnology led by Prof. C.N.R. Rao, FRS, National Research Professor; Linus Pauling Research Professor; Honorary President, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) decided to expand its horizons by rechristening Bangalore Nano as Bangalore INDIA NANO.
The 6th edition of Bangalore INDIA NANO will be held from 4th to 6th of December 2013 at Hotel The Lalit Ashok, Bangalore. As Nanotechnology is paving the way for a revolution, abundant opportunities will follow making an impact on civilization. Hence the focal theme for the event is aptly chosen as “Nano Horizons.”
Asia's biggest nanotechnology event will feature an exhibition and conference sessions addressed by internationally acclaimed speakers and experts discussing a range of issues pertaining to research, technology development, skills requirement, institutions, risks issues, regulatory & governance structure, Investment and collaborations between Academia, R&D & Industry. Bangalore INDIA NANO 2013 will also feature a Pre-Conference Tutorial Session on the 4th of December 2013 for the delegates which will offer a preview on latest trends of Nanotechnology.
The tradeshow will include displays and presentations on innovative technologies, vendor displays, product demonstrations, a Pavilion for Institutes of National Importance and Nano Mission Pavilion.
Making the announcement Shri. I.S.N. Prasad, IAS - Principal Secretary to Government, Dept. of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, said, “The Nanotechnology event has assumed a larger role for the industry and gained significance importance globally. Hence we are proud to rechristen the event as Bangalore INDIA NANO. Over the years we have seen that the event has become very important to all the stakeholders. The event has grown steadily since its inception in 2007 where-in 400 delegates, 20 exhibitors and 100 business visitors participated to 700 delegates, 43 exhibitors and 2000 business visitors in 2012.
“Bangalore INDIA NANO has always enabled experts, scientists, researchers, industry and start-ups to meet and exchange notes on tomorrow's nanotechnology. The annual event will be a congregation of academia, research and industry featuring inspiring talks, high quality research papers and a platform to showcase innovative & ground breaking nano-applications. India and more specifically Karnataka will be a major influencer in the field of Nanotechnology in the next couple of years.” he said.
The event will see participation of Chief Scientific Officers, Policy Makers, VPs, Directors, Heads of organisations, Scientists, Chemists, Research Leaders/ Fellows/ Advisors from Industry, Government and Research Institutions. The key speakers this year will include Eminent international experts from India and across the globe addressing key issues and opportunities in the sector.
From this year, a special award by Prof. C.N.R. Rao and Mrs. Rao will be presented to an eminent scientist.
The focus areas of Bangalore INDIA NANO 2013 are Advanced Materials, Energy, Electronics & NEMS, Agriculture, Drug Delivery and Health care, Safe Drinking Water and Textiles. Over hundred leading International and Indian companies are expected to participate in Bangalore INDIA NANO 2013. International Delegations are expected from USA, UK, Japan, Korea, China, Singapore, Germany, Switzerland and Australia for the event. A special early bird offer is on for delegates registering for the Conference until August 2013.
Bangalore INDIA NANO National Award would be presented during the event to a distinguished personality for significant achievements in the field of Nanotechnology. The selection would be done by a special jury under the Chairmanship of Prof. C.N.R. Rao. The previous recipients of the award have been Prof. C.N.R. Rao in 2007, Prof. Dipankar Chakravorty in 2008, Prof. Ajay K. Sood in 2009, Dr. G. Sundararajan in 2011 and Prof. G.U. Kulkarni in 2012.
India Nanotech Innovation Award recognizes the nanotechnology enabled innovations in areas like medicine, electronics, materials, agriculture and biotech by an organisation / individual which would bring in path breaking change in the nanotech sector. Entries are invited for India Nanotech Innovation Award.
