Ashok Leyland signs a MoU with the Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC)

Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group flagship, today signed an MoU with ASDC, the first sector-skill council in the country. Promoted jointly by the auto industry and the Government of India (represented by the Department of Heavy Industry and National Skill Development Corporation), ASDC conducts skill development programs for the automobile sector - across all segments.

As its affiliate training partner, ASDC will endorse Ashok Leyland's course modules that are designed to benefit the overall auto ecosystem through quality training and certification.

Speaking about the association with ASDC, Mr. N V Balachandar, Executive Director, Human Resources, Ashok Leyland, said, “This accreditation will make young people entering the business more competitive by offering them a structured curriculum that integrates industry needs with emerging trends and offers hands-on training. We are very proud to help Improve skill-levels and quality of talent across operations that are sure to benefit the entire industry. We are proud of this association and in collaboration with the Council, we will offer many more programs that will benefit the automotive sector.”

Ashok Leyland is a pioneer in the area of skill training and development and has set-up dedicated Driver Training Institutes (DTIs) and Service Training Centers (STCs) across the country. These centers offer multi-level, customised training programs and help participants keep pace with evolving technology and increased customer expectations. DTIs have trained over 5 lakh drivers while STCs (set-up recently) have trained over 800 associates. The Company has a training initiative called the ‘BLESSING’ scheme in its Pantnagar facility, where nearly 1000 youngsters are being trained in manufacturing operations.
