CRY’s Vote for Child Rights campaign in Bangalore

CRY’s Vote for Child Rights campaign in Bangalore
After Malleshwaram and Hosur Road, it was time for Mekhri Circle junction to be the cynosure of all eyes as volunteers from Child Rights and You (CRY) painted the Mekhri Circle junction wall, Palace Grounds. The wall painting event was part of CRY’s Vote for Child Rights campaign that advocates the cause of ensuring that Child Rights becomes an intrinsic aspect of manifestos of all political parties in India. Talking on why CRY chose this method to go about spreading awareness, Suma Ravi, Regional Director, CRY (South) said, “Our wall painting events have become a medium for us to engage with the common man on the street and to include them in our campaign to ensure that Child Rights gets due weightage and importance within diverse political party manifestos.”

The nationwide Vote for Child Rights campaign kick started on the 13th of November 2013 and includes different activities ranging from signing pledges from the general public to getting prominent personalities from across India to support the campaign, to holding of city centric events to showcase the current state of Child Rights in India.

The campaign firmly believes that India’s children who account for one third of the population deserve the collective demonstration of our commitment towards child rights. It also calls for action to express zero tolerance towards violation of child rights so that every child can be assured of a happy, healthy and creative childhood. That can happen only if children are recognized as rights holders and people in power remain committed towards providing care, protection, essential services and opportunities to each and every child.
