GRAND CELEBRATIONS AT RVM FOUNDATION SHIV TEMPLE
Lord Shiva is said to descend at the internationally recognized and famous RVM Foundation Shiv Temple on Old Airport Road to celebrate the Maha Shivratri Mahotsav with Bangaloreans. A Celestial Extravaganza has been planned for Shiva devotees and special arrangements are being made to celebrate the festival in a grand way.

At the RVM Foundation Shiv Temple, Maha Shivratri is celebrated with much fanfare and joy. A number of programmes are lined up to make this year’s celebrations a grand event. This year, the Maha Shivratri Celebrations start from 06:00 a.m. on Thursday, 27 February, 2014 and will go on till 04:00 a.m. on Friday, 28 February, 2014. The Shiv Aarti will be held every 2 hours.

The Highlights of this year’s Shivratri Program include: Special Gratitude Pooja, Aabhaar Parikrama, Launch of ‘A Power We Call God’- a spiritual book by RVM, A Unique and captivating Light and Sound show which is a combination of colourful lights, mellow music & thought provoking dialogues, Launch of 3 Bhajan CD’s sung by renowned singers - Anuradha Paudwal, Udit Narayan & Kavitha Krishnamurthy & Inauguration of ‘A Tunnel to Heaven’. With so many new attractions and highlights, this year we are expecting around one lakh people to visit the temple and be a part of Maha Shivratri 2014.

24 hours special live Bhajans will be sung by RVM and other singers. Special midnight competitions like Shiv Antakshari, Shiv Idol, Shiv Sa Re Ga Ma and Shiv Dhuni Sangam have been specially organized for all devotees.

Every year lakhs of devotees, from around the world, throng the temple to have a glimpse of the gigantic 65-foot-tall Shiva idol. On the auspicious day of Maha Shivratri, thousands of people patiently wait in long queues, from early morning, for hours together to get a glimpse of the Lord. The ‘!!Om Namah Shivaya!!’ mantra being chanted by thousands of devotees fills the air as the spiritual vibrations grow stronger and stronger. Every year, the euphoria and celebrations bring the entire city to a standstill.
