Arrest of NYPD official in New Delhi has no link with Devyani Khobragade case

The Spokesperson of the Consulate General of India, New York,  dismissed as ridiculous suggestions that there was any connection between the detention of a NYPD official in New Delhi and the arrest of an Indian Diplomat in New York.  The NYPD official was detained after his baggage was found to contain a few rounds of live ammunition when the bags were screened in New Delhi airport, prior to him taking a domestic flight. In India, this is a violation of the Arms Act.   Indeed, he was released on bail immediately and is currently in India awaiting a court date to resolve the case
