Rs 1.15 lakh crore allocated for food subsidy in 2014-15 budget

The Government has allocated Rs 1.15 lakh crore for food subsidy in 2014-15 budget to ensure wheat and rice at reasonable prices to the weaker sections of the society. It includes a provision of Rs 88,500 crore for implementation of National Food Security Act.

The Government has made it clear that stocks in the Central pool are adequate to meet any exigency due to possibility of inadequate rainfall.
