#IAS officer in #Tamil Nadu transferred twice in 48 hrs for defying minister

A senior IAS officer in Tamil Nadu U Sagayam has been transferred twice in last 48 hours for allegedly taking on TN Textile Minister S Gokul Indira.

U Sagayam, who was chief of state-run weavers' cooperative society Co-optex for two years, was first transferred last Wednesday as Commissioner of Indian Medicine and Homeopathy. Two days later, he was shifted again as Vice Chairman of Science City.
Known for his clean record, Mr Sagayam, 52, has reportedly been transferred 24 times in 23 years to taking on DMK as well as AIADMK politicians.
Trouble started when a manager of Co-optex showroom at Kallakurichi was assaulted, allegedly by workers of the ruling AIADMK and management filed a police complaint but the minister allegedly forced to withdraw it.
Mr Sagayam has written to the Chief Secretary, alleging interference by the minister and asked for an inquiry.
