Highlight of the speech made at the press meet
  •  It is unprecedented that a media house is trying to play the Opposition party. They are destroying democracy.
  • Is it the job of a media house to play the role of Opposition party? Should they issue statements like Opposition leaders do?
  • The CBI is being used as a pawn to settle political scores by the ruling party.
  • A deep conspiracy has been hatched to defame Mamata Banerjee, whose credibility is beyond question.
  • We condemn the smear campaign in the strictest possible words. This is a worst precedence.
  • If CBI performs its duties in a bipartisan manner, we will welcome it. We will not tolerate CBI being used for political purpose.
  • BJP is indulging in a dirty political game, using the CBI, ahead of bypolls in Bengal.
  • .At a time when Mamata Banerjee is trying to take Bengal to heights of development, ABP-BJP are indulging in smear campaign.
  • The credibility of CBI is under question now.
  • WB CM comes from a humble background, leads a simple life. Some sections are deliberately targeting her.
  • All chit funds, right from 1980 to 2012, should be investigated and the perpetrators must be punished.
A day after CBI arrested a leader of West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress and former director general of the state armed police Rajat Majumdar in connection with the Saradha scam, the agency on Wednesday summoned and questioned the ruling party's Raja Sabha MP Srinjoy Bose.He (Majumdar)has been arrested on grounds of conspiracy, cheating and misappropriation of funds," said a CBI spokesperson. The investigative agency has registered four first information reports in the scam.
The TMC is feeling the heat with many prominent leaders being roped in the multi-crore scam. Srinjoy Bose who owns a Bengali newspaper had been named by prime accused Saradha Group CMD Sudipta Sen and Kunal Ghosh as someone who made vital decisions about Saradha's media business.
Meanwhile, the ED during the day questioned Trinamool Rajya Sabha member Ahmed Hassan Imran over his alleged financial transactions with the Saradha Group.
Kunal Ghosh has reportely written to TMC supporters, demanding that the party should constitute an inquiry committee within 72 hours to probe the role of some of its leaders in the multi-crore scam.
