Speaking after inaugurating new CT scan machine at Kidwai Institute of Oncology on Wednesday, Minister for Medical Education in Karnataka Sharan Prakash Patil said that cancer hospitals will also be set up at Kalaburagi and Mandya districts and a sum of Rs 45 crore had been set aside for the purpose.
“We are purchasing additional Linear Accelerator equipment and CT scan machines. Hygiene levels at Kidwai will be improved. We have ordered re-tendering for housekeeping contract in this regard. The Centre has provided `120 crore to upgrade Kidwai,” he said.
This move comes after conditions at the premier cancer institute in Karnataka invited Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wrath recently.
