#Assam violence:#Mamata Banerjee visits Changmari relief camps in Alipurduar




West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee left for Alipurduar on Friday afternoon to visit and inspect the relief camps at Kumargram, where Adivasis from violence hit Kokrajhar have taken shelter.
"The people who have fled Assam and have taken shelter here are very poor. I have heard they have children with them. I appeal to people to come forward to provide baby food and dry food for those taking shelter in the camps… I am not looking  at it through politics but as a humanitarian issue,” Mamata said.
Hit by violence carried out by militants, refugees from Assam have taken shelter in four camps at Kumargram and Cooch Behar. From her own savings,  WB Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee bought one thousand pieces of winter clothing which she distributed among the refugees. During her visit, she took stock of the arrangements at the relief camp and instructed officials to arrange all meals on time.The CM was accompanied by North Bengal Development Minister Gautam Deb, district magistrate and other officials during the visit.
