#Karnataka #MLA’s want 100% pay hike while sugarcane farmers protest in Belagavi

According news reports Karnataka Legislature are demanding close to Rs 1 lakh in salary and allowances.Nearly 25 sitting MLAs have submitted a requisition demanding a hike in pay and perks. The State cabinet is likely to approve the demand and may introduce an amendment bill to Karnataka Legislature Salaries, Pensions and Allowances Act, 1956, in the winter session at Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi which started on Tuesday.


Meanwhile, sugarcane growers across Karnataka have launched a massive protest in front of the Suvarna Vidhan Soudha in Belagavi during the ongoing legislative session.Last year the government had fixed a price of Rs 2,500 per tonne of sugarcane, but the farmers were yet to be paid Rs 2,100 crore in arrears.
