Mysterious death of upright and honest Indian Administrative
Service (IAS) officer D K Ravi, who took on the real estate mafia, has angered
the people of Karnataka at large. Ravi, who was Joint Commissioner of
Commercial Tax Department, was found hanging and dead at his apartment
yesterday. After taking charge as Additional Commissioner of Commercial Taxes
(Enforcement), he cracked down on major companies that were evading tax. In a
few months, well-known firms were raided. Even an international bank was also
raided.

Departed IAS officer DK Ravi raided big business groups
including Embassy, Rajesh Exports, Shubh Jewellers, RMZ Institution, Prestige
Group, Raheja Group and Mantri Developers across Karnataka and confiscated the
encroached government land. He took on the sand mafia and had put an end to it
in Kolar during his term there.
