LG Najeeb Jung finally clears appointment of Swati Maliwal as DCW chief

Delhi Lt-Governor Najeeb Jung has finally approved the appointment of Swati Maliwal, chosen by Arvind Kejriwal government, as chief of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW).

LG on Tuesday had written to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), demanding an explanation as to why his approval was not sought on the appointment and questioned the procedure by which the appointment was made.

Maliwal (30) has been associated with the AAP chief since India Against Corruption (IAC) days. Married to Jaihind, a key party leader from Haryana and a known Kejriwal loyalist, she worked as an adviser to Delhi Chief Minister on public grievances and handles his Janta Samwad. AAP refuted the charges of "nepotism" and chief minister Arvind Kejriwal rubbished the opposition claim that Maliwal was related to him.
