CM @ncbn eyes religious tourism potential in #AP; sends Nandamuri Balakrishna to promote 'Lepakshi Utsavalu'

Nandamuri Balakrishna Hindupur MLA and Tollywood actor and the 6th son of Telugu matinee idol and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. T. Rama Rao was in Bangalore yesterday to promote two-day Lepakshi festival to be held on 27 and 28 February at the MJRPBC School Grounds, Ananthapuramu District, Andhra Pradesh.The two-day event will focus on boosting the tourism appeal of the Heritage Village Lepakshi and the surrounding region.Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will attend the two-day Lepakshi festival said Nandamuri Balakrishna during a press meet in Bangalore on the sideline of the Lepakshi festival road show.“He (Chandrababu Naidu) is hundred per cent attending the festival. He is the number one brand of our state, Andhra Pradesh,” Balakrishna told reporters in Bangalore yesterday.Lepakshi is a small village in Anantapur district and is located 15 km away from Hindupur and approximately 120 kms north of Bengaluru. It is culturally and archaeologically significant as it is the location of shrines dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu and Veerabhadra which were built during the rule of Vijayanagara Empire.AP IT Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy and minister of Civil Supplies AP Govt. Smt.Paritala Sunitha were also present.


AP Govt has sanctioned Rs. 9 crores  to improve the infrastructure for the Lepakshi festival.. Nandamuri Balakrishna, highlighted the various initiatives undertaken to give a facelift to the temple complex. He said," We have sent a proposal to UNESCO to lend the 'World Heritage Site' tag to the temple and are expecting a positive response from them"."Once, Lepakshi receives the World Heritage Site status from UNESCO, the real work for development will begin," he added.
