NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydro power company and a ‘Mini Ratna’ Category-I Enterprise of the Government has established a Real Time Seismic Data Centre at its Corporate Office Complex at Faridabad yesterday.
The Real Time Seismic Data Centre was inaugurated by K.M. Singh, CMD, NHPC in the presence of experts from National Centre for Seismology, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India, other senior NHPC officials and technical experts from ESS, Earth Sciences, Australia and ABEM, Sweden.
Through this state-of-art advanced data centre NHPC has now connected its 18 power stations for receiving the earthquake data recorded at dams on real time basis. NHPC is the only hydropower utility in the country to have such data centre that includes in-house seismic data processing and interpretation capabilities. On this occasion, a three day workshop on Seismological Considerations in Hydropower Design & Accelerograph Data Processing was also inaugurated by Shri K.M. Singh, CMD, NHPC which is being held at NHPC Office Complex from 25th to 27th February 2016 for Executives from across NHPC’s Power Stations.
