Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani has been encouraging the Khadi sector. For Indians it is an emotional issue because Gandhiji used it as a symbol of self reliamce during the freedom struggle. Government should accord industry status to the fashion industry and encourage 'Khadi' over other textiles, said renowned fashion guru Prasad Bidapa during a free-wheeling chat on the sidelines of a fashion conclave organised by Phoenix Marketcity in Bengaluru last Saturday.
A panel discussion was organised during the event and was moderated by Prasad Bidappa.
