RAMIRO ’09 conference

RAMIRO ’09, a conference on ‘Recent Advances in Molecular Imaging and Radiation Oncology’, was inaugurated here today by Dr. Kasturi Rangan, Director, National Institute of Advanced Studies. On this occasion a monograph on Positron Emission Tomography (PET CT) was released. The conference was organized by HCG, South Asia’s largest cancer care network in association with Indian Nuclear Society (INS), a professional body of nuclear scientists, engineers and technologists in India.
The conference would extensively deliberate on recent developments in molecular imaging and radiotherapy as radioisotope-based molecular imaging technologies including Cyclotrons and PET CT are proving to be path breaking occurrences on the medical horizon having wide ranging applications across endocrinology, cardiology, neurology and oncology among others. Over 100 specialists in nuclear medicine, radiation oncology and medical physics are attending this national conference.
Providing an overview of RAMIRO ’09, Dr. B S Ajai Kumar, Chairman and CEO, HCG, said, “Molecular imaging technologies are set to revolutionize the diagnostic and treatment modalities. This conference is an attempt to bring awareness about the utilization of PET scan in the indicative modalities”.
