Aruba Networks, the global leader in distributed enterprise networks, today announced the successful deployment of ‘Aruba Wireless Solution’ in the academic section and workshops in one of the highly renowned institutions of India- Indian Institute of Technology (Delhi).
Prior to approaching Aruba Networks, IIT Delhi functioned on a wired network, which started to pose as a challenge when it came to safety and cost effectiveness. Aruba Networks provided the institution with a centralized Wireless LAN solution, a centralized management and authentication for AAA servers, which aimed to deliver stability, performance, security and features like Adaptive Radio Management (ARM).
“Mobility is the key word nowadays, as majority of the people have mobile gadgets that need to connect to the Internet through WLAN,” says Shalendra Singh, Country Manager India, Aruba Networks. Aruba Networks, as a part of their Aruba Wireless Solution, had installed 250 access points, providing IIT a centralized WLAN solution with centralized management and authentication from central AAA server. The solution package included AP-61, AP-121 and Aruba 6000 controller. Apart from Aruba, the institution also deployed active PoE switches from Alcatel.
The AP-61 is ideal for dense AP deployments where only single-band coverage is desired. The AP-61 is also commonly deployed as an indoor mesh bridge. The AP-121 is a high-speed, multifunction single-radio indoor 802.11a/b/g/n AP with 3x3 MIMO. Offers maximum deployment flexibility for single-band WLAN coverage with multiple antenna options, Ethernet pass-through, mesh and sensor capabilities, or can operate as a Remote AP. Ideal for challenging low-density deployments that require above-ceiling or enclosure-based installations. The Aruba 6000 is the most scalable modular controller available today. Designed for corporate headquarters and large campus-wide deployments, the Aruba 6000 features 10-Gigabit Ethernet connections and is able to aggregate up to 8,192 access points in a single modular chassis.
Professor Subhashis Banerjee Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Delhi says, “We had deployed Aruba WLAN solution in our entire campus last year. The solution has been working absolutely trouble-free and we noticed that during peak hours of usage 2000+ users are connected to WLAN network without any problem.” Aruba Networks’ WLAN solution has helped the institution in saving cables, switch ports, rack space, power consumption and carbon emission thus reducing deployment cost.
