Computer Society of India (CSI), the largest body for IT professionals in the country kicked off its first edition of Advances in Cloud Computing (ACC 2012) Conference today in Bangalore at Lalit Ashok. The launch of ACC series not only brought together professionals from around the world but also provided an international platform for various researchers and practitioners to share knowledge on Cloud Computing. Speakers from across the globe witnessed the event and shared ideas pertaining to Cloud Computing. The event was also a host for various industry leaders and international experts of renowned universities.
Chief Guest Sri M N Vidyashankar, Principal Secretary, Department of Industries & Commerce, Govt. of Karnataka inaugurated the conference along with other guests of honour - Prof. S. Sadagopan, Director, IIITB and Mr J Parthasarathy, Director, STPI Bangalore and Chennai. In his inaugural address Sri Vidyashankar emphasized on the importance of Cloud Computing as it is one of the technology which is growing at a fast pace. Sri Vidyashankar took the audience through the challenges being faced by the industry currently and announced the initiatives taken by Government to overcome those. He also emphasized on the needs of IT/ technology in the education and health segments”
Prof. S. Sadagopan, Director – IIITB addressed the gathering and commented “Cloud computing is a new way of delivering computing resources, not necessarily a new technology. Industry is investing heavily on this technology as it is one of the top technology which has a scope for innovation and we expect an annual growth of 60-70% in the coming years”
Dr. Anirban Basu, Event Chair of ACC 2012, and Research Professor, and Consultant, of repute in the area of Information Technology, said, “ACC 2012, an initiative by CSI; is a platform to give voice to the IT industry and ecosystem in India. We are happy & overwhelmed with the response we received from the industry and this would further enhance our commitments to the industry. Our participants seemed happy interacting with speakers and delegates from R&D, academia and other peers.”
Almost 300 plus participants were present at the event and they were enlightened by industry leaders from VMware, EMC Corporation, HP Labs India, Tally solutions, CDAC, Deloitte Consulting India and Leading international experts from, University of Melbourne, Carleton University, NUS Singapore. The conference was also supported by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India, ISRO, STPI, and a large number of corporate houses and R&D labs.
The World, especially India, is best suited to take advantage of cloud computing to achieve its goal in the future. Many researchers and Economists view an exponential growth in creation and consumption of cloud applications in order to get good value across various dimensions. Identifying the importance and necessity of Cloud Computing in the days to come, CSI initiated a conference series on ACC that enables companies to convert capital expenditure into operational expenditure, thereby deriving absolute value for money.
