Parisara Bags “Green Star Award” initiated by TCS World 10 K
This  “Green Star Award”  was  Initiated by Procam International  to mark the 5th Edition of TCS World 10K  which held in May 2012 and has helped generate in excess of a whopping R.3.06 crores for charity.
At a function held at ITC Windsor Manor Hotel to release the official Charity Docket and to announce the winner for various categories of peoples Green Award and other Individuals who generated funds for various NGOs which include Individual, corporate, NGO The occasion was graced by Sandalwood Power Star Puneet Rajkumar, Mr. ES. Chakravarthy, Centre Head, Bangalore, TCS, Murray Clushaw, Founder Chairman, Bangalore Cares, Charity Partner, Atul Bhalla, GM Of ITC Windsor, Vivek B. Singh, Jt. MD of Procam International, the promoters of the event.
The Award was  received by GK Mahantesh, fonder managing trustee from  Sandalwood Power Star Puneet Rajkumar with a cash prize of 75,000/- . There were 10 entries from different NGO across Karnataka working towards Environment based projects, 5 were shortlisted out of which Parisara was the Winner while Malleshwaram Swabhimana Initiative was the first Runner ups and the  Puttenahalli Neighborhood  lake Improvement trust was the 2nd Runner- ups.
The winners were selected on the basis of public voting (30% weightage) and the Jury (70%). The eminent Jury of the Peoples' Green Award which comprised Mr. Karan Bhalla (WWF-COO), Mr. Hem Pande (Joint Secretary, MOEF), Dr. Anil Kumar Dikshit (IIT Bombay), Prof Damodaran (Prof IIM - Bangalore) and Mr. Vivek B Singh (Joint Managing Director, Procam International) screened the final five to judge the winner.  Criteria for the Award – IDEA, INNOVATIONS, SCALE AND IMPACT. Said Richa Bajpai, Nextgen coordinated among NGO’s.

“To work towards a waste-free environment with the concept of recycle Management as the only solution for safe, scientific and eco-friendly disposal of waste
  Objectives of this program.
 Creating awareness  among general public about importance of segregation of waste at source
Parisara, Samarthanam's waste management wing, continues to collect and recycle dry waste from 15 apartment complexes, several residential units and 43 corporate locations, and also added 15 new companies this year.
The programme aids in empowering the differently-abled by providing employment opportunities. The income generated is used for Samarthanam's welfare activities.

Several camps and awareness programs were conducted:
aStalls at corporate locations - E&Y, IBM, Motorola, RMZ Infinity
aEducational institutions - Alliance University, Sri Vivekananda Pre-University College.

Future Plans: Parisara targets an increased collection next year, and aims to extend services to more areas.
1.    scientific management  of collected municipal solid waste
2.    generating jobs for the local unskilled people
3.    Reduces dependency of the virgin manufactured materials.
4.    To create a waste-free environment and environmentally friendly cost effective, innovative and sustainable technologies.
5.    To provide end-to-end waste management solutions for the corporate organizations to achieve sustainable waste management practices and reduce environmental footprint.
6.    To become leaders in the collection and recycle of old newspapers and magazines and provide a sustainable source of revenue for the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled.
7.    To ensure a safe, scientific and eco-friendly disposal of dry waste; especially e-waste.
8.    To utilize our natural resources in an efficient and effective manner.
9.    To ensure employment opportunities for the disabled.

We are receiving overwhelming support from the corporate and Individual apartments and we are able to collect over 50 tons per month as dry waste alone through corporate’s offices and residential apartment blocks. Our targets is about 100 tons per month.
