STMicroelectronics Hosts IEEE Lectures in Greater Noida, India

STMicroelectronics India will host the Lecture Colloquia of the IEEE Solid State Circuits Society (IEEE-SSCS), Delhi Chapter, at Greater Noida, India, on July 23-24 2012. At this event, eminent professors and industry veterans will present lectures on topics of contemporary interest, providing a unique opportunity to the semiconductor fraternity in the National Capital Region (NCR) of India to participate in the deep technical sessions.

The IEEE SSCS Delegation is led by the SSCS President, Dr. Rakesh Kumar, a Semiconductor industry veteran and a 1969 graduate of IIT Delhi. The event features lectures by renowned Prof. Russel Jacob Baker of Boise State University on “Analog Design in Nanometer CMOS,” “Analog and Mixed Signal Circuit Design for Communication Systems using the K-Delta-1-Sigma Modulator” and “Chip Design using Free Layout Tools.” Dr. Baker holds over 200 patents in integrated circuit design. Other prominent speakers with several papers and patents to their credit include Dr. Alvin Loke and Prof. Mohamad Sawan, speaking on the topics of “2D to 3D MOS Technology Evolution” and “Wireless Brain-Machine Biosensing,” respectively.

In its continued commitment toward technology leadership through promotion of high- end semiconductor research ecosystem, STMicroelectronics is hosting the event on its Greater Noida, India premises. Vivek Sharma, Regional Vice President, Greater China & South Asia Region – India Operations, Director India Design Centre, STMicroelectronics, said, “It is a great privilege for STMicroelectronics India to host the first-ever lecture series of the Delhi Chapter of the IEEE Solid State Circuits Society. I am confident this forum will provide a stimulating platform in the National Capital Region for enriching the knowledge of engineers and motivating the development of high-end innovative semiconductor design solutions.”

Dr. Rakesh Kumar, President IEEE-SSCS (2012 – 13) said, “We are pleased to bring integrated-circuit perspectives from leading contributors for the benefit of attendees in the Delhi region. The newly formed SSCS Delhi Chapter is a key part of our global outreach efforts. I would like to express my sincere thanks to the organizers and to STMicroelectronics for hosting this event.” Dr. Kumar is scheduled to present an overview on Solid State Circuits and Systems and the Semiconductor Industry Trends, Challenges and Opportunities on the first day of the event (July 23, 2012).
