About Sumita Iyengar

·     Chairman of International Women Federation of Chambers and Industries (IWFCI) of India.

·         Founder Trustee and Secretary of Lifestyle Clinique Academy Education Society (Skills & Vocational Training), accredited VTP, Government of India.

·         She is also the Founder Trustee of SOWMINI Foundation, a registered trust that works towards empowerment of women. The SOWMINI Foundation Scholarship Program is an attempt to assist specific categories of women (speech & hearing impaired, blind, physically challenged, and mentally challenged, widows, divorcees, etc.)

Sumitra Iyengar strongly believes that

·         Right to Education starts at the Grassroots level. Up gradation of the existing Government/ Corporation Schools to Public School Systems is the way forward, with an inclusive program we will be able to achieve a 100% conversion of children from all walks of life able to receive equal opportunity for Education.

·         Employable skills are today’s requirement. Youth of India must have employable skill which will help them to stand out by their own as everyone is not blessed with educational skill. She wants Karnataka to be the workforce capital of India.

·         Sumitra also believes that it is the senior citizen of our society who with their knowledge and experience can support the society for betterment.

·         Sumitra’s journey from business women to a social activists turned politician.

·         Her views on why she joined politics and how she along with her team bring a change to the society.

To eliminate all forms of discrimination by birth and guarantee dignity and opportunity to every citizen irrespective of origin and status; and to promote social equality and justice and fully integrate all disadvantaged sections including dalits, adivasis and socially and economically.
