Everyone anticipated the competition to see whose boat would float and who could pilot it the fastest through the race course. Everyone had such a fun time, especially the pilots. Even though a few got wet, they all had an amusing time. It was great to watch all cheer for one another.
I was incredibly proud that we could do so much for the environment and have so much fun while doing it. I thought it was incredible that we could all come together to make a better place for us to live in, said one of the students.
Tide's Up at CIS! Students from Grades 6 - 11 took part in "the First Annual Recycled Regatta. It was a day of designing, exploring, creating and just plain fun. Boats made were sailed across the swimming pool, with House Teams competing against each other for the honor of being the last one standing....or in this case....floating ! – Shane Kells, Head of School
The Recycled Regatta is an exciting educational event designed to bring awareness to the amount of waste we produce everyday. Students are required to use innovative thinking and problem solving skills to turn garbage into a boat capable of holding one of their peers. Finding creative ways to recycle and reuse waste is essential to preserving and protecting our delicate planet.
