The Central Cottage Industries Emporium Corporation (CCIE), on Wednesday, unveiled a new collection of many exquisite art forms to emanate from the stark and stunning deserts of Rajasthan the art of making painted furniture specific to Jodhpur at its flagship showroom at MG Road, Bangalore.
Susheela Mehta known as Hindustani Vocal singer, Bharathnatyam dancer & also a Lawyer inaugurated the expo that was attended by several leading personalities of the city.
Understated, elegant and combining beautiful colours, Jodhpur furniture is a brilliant statement of the artistic expression of that region. Made with wood and painted in the classic style of the region, some of the items even have brass items fitted to them, giving the overall feel of grace and vivacity.
On display are a variety of items which include antiques and replicas, such as bedside tables, cupboards, damchiyas, racks, boxes, jharokhas, and such others. Especially unique is a bar with special brass work which Is both stunning and utilitarian.
The exhibition will be on till September 1st 2013 from 10 am to 8:30 pm at its flagship showroom 144, M.G Road, Bangalore.
