Inventure Academy, ranked among the top 10 international day schools in India, is all set to unveil their annual production, ‘The Kick, the Quest, the Question’. The musical-drama premieres on Friday, 27 September 2013, at MLR, Whitefield and will be on till Saturday, 28 September 2013. There are 2 shows on Friday from 10am-12 noon and 6:30pm-8:30pm. Shows on Saturday are from 12 noon-2pm and 6:30pm-8:30pm.

This production showcases all in-house talent only. 400 (middle-school and senior school) students have collaborated together for two months to present this show. Actors, dancers, singers, musicians, even the ideas for the script have come from the students. The art, backdrops, props, costume design, graphic design… every aspect of the play, has been taken care of by the students.

The script has been written by Mr. Ram Ganesh Kamatham and directed by Arati Punwani Sunawala and Tarantismo. The outcome is a performance well worth watching, not just to acknowledge the amazing acting, musical and dance talents displayed by the students, but also to appreciate the wonderful sets and props that provide a befitting backdrop for a production of this magnitude.

All proceeds from this production will go towards the Community Outreach Program at Inventure Academy.

About the Community Outreach Program
Inventure Academy has adopted six government schools in their neighbourhood.
Students from grades 6-12 and all the faculty at Inventure co-teach/learn English/Kannada, entrepreneurship skills, and computers to students at these government schools on a weekly basis. Inventure’s goal with this show is to create more awareness for the need to enhance teaching/learning at government schools and specifically to restore some of the infrastructure in the pre-Independence building that houses one of these schools in particular. Some of these schools have a yearly budget of just Rs. 28,000 to work with! Hence, every bit counts.

About the play
The Kick, the Quest, the Question, a musical-drama, is an exhilarating and vibrant journey of a young girl. The play weaves its way between real and imaginary worlds - the present and the past. It begins in a grey, desolate examination hall and goes through a convoluted, yet colorful labyrinth that is the subconscious state of Shanti’s (the protagonist’s) mind. A quest for answers to simple questions from an exam paper Shanti is about to take, leads to re-examining the nature of our educational system and to questioning the structure and nature of our society at large.

Shanti struggles to make sense of such a world that has morphed into a mishmash of developments in education, technology and science, politics and the mass media.  Shanti is also cognizant of the social problems that emanate so freely from these changes that we seem to celebrate. Corruption of every imaginable form, environmental degradation, indulgence in wanton sensationalism from the media, an educational system that has lost touch with value systems, issues of child labor, materialism and emerging social inequality are some of the issues that are brought-up in this thought-provoking musical-drama. Though the above description is philosophical and borders on the cerebral, the issues raised in this allegorical drama are tempered with wonderful contemporary music, dance and plenty of humor.
