Folk festival at Infosys Bangalore Development Centre

Folk festival at Infosys Bangalore Development Centre
Infosys Bangalore Development Centre is all set to celebrate the 9th year of Ellu Bella, the annual folk festival, organized during Sankranthi every year. The volunteer group at Infosys Bangalore – Sirigandha - organizes such activities to encourage traditional art forms that are being forgotten. 400 artists have visited the campus over the period of 9 years, and have successfully showcased their talents to a corporate audience. As a run up to Ellu Bella, there have been several activities like rangoli, tyre bandi, gaalipata (Kite flying), and chowkabara (traditional ludo) conducted.

Ellu Bella is an eclectic mixture of sesame seeds, roasted groundnuts, slivers of coconut and jaggery which is prepared during Sankranthi. True to tradition, folk artists will form teams to showcase various art forms such as Gaarudi Gombe, Goravarakunitha, Kamsaale Nruthya, Pooja Kunitha. This event not only brings Infoscions closer to Karnataka’s folk heritage but also gives these artists a wider platform.  More than 60 passionate volunteers from Sirigandha have put in their efforts for the success of the campaign.
Ellu Bella will also be hosting a food festival with a rural theme. The traditional rangolis and a harvest ambience created with earthen pots and sugarcane props will add to the festive feel. A life-size bullock cart and folk masks handcrafted by the volunteers with recyclable materials, will be greeting all the employees to this event.
The dancing to the sound of the Nagaari, folks songs from the Infosys music group and the atmosphere of Ellu Bella is a treat to Infoscions who look forward to the celebrations each year.
