Trading in cleantech knowledge - EBTC collaborates with the NRDC in India

EBTC collaborates with the NRDC in India
In the quest to strengthen and adapt EU technologies in India, the European Business and Technology Centre (EBTC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Natural Research Development Corporation (NRDC).  The MoU will enable EBTC to facilitate the transfer of EU technologies into India and to build an ecosystem to enable knowledge diffusion and trading.

EBTC brings EU technologies to India to achieve the mandate of mitigating the effects of climate change, whilst NRDC with its deep network of research & development institutions, has proven its capabilities to enable technology transfer and commercialization.

Director of EBTC, Mr. Poul V. Jensen highlights that “technology transfer tools offered by EBTC such as the European Technology Experience Centre (ETEC), or Enterprise Europe Network amongst others, very much compliment NRDC capabilities. Both the acquisition of technology and its diffusion will foster productivity and growth in the country – an increase in the uptake of technologies leads to economic development.”

Horizon 2020, the EU framework programme for research collaboration, with funding worth nearly 80 billion Euros from 2014-2020, is another example where NRDC can act as a multiplier to connect the EU research community with its Indian counterparts. EBTC can leverage NRDC’s association within a vast network universities and research institutions to facilitate the installation of powerful EU-India research consortia for cross border research collaboration projects.

Head of IPR at EBTC, Mr. Arvind Chopra adds that “the collaboration will help to strengthen IPR capacity building. Many European companies have patented technologies which can be used in India. In this frame, EBTC and NRDC in future will work together to develop an IP valuation tool which could be employed as a standard tool for performing initial valuations of technology.”

This MoU represents a powerful and targeted partnership to enhance research, business and trade together, EBTC and NRDC can achieve a mutual target of technology collaboration and transfer between the EU and India with a sustainable agenda.
